What to Do in Greensboro

Last month, DG and I decided to get out of town for the night, so we headed a short hour and change drive away to Greensboro, NC.  Here’s what we did while we were in town.

For starters, we stayed at the gorgeous Proximity Hotel.  Check out my review here.

After getting checked in and ready for dinner, we had a pre-dinner cocktail from Print Works Bistro in the sitting area of the hotel.

We took the courtsey shuttle to the O.Henry Hotel, the sister hotel of Proximity, to have dinner at Green Valley Grill.  DG & I recommend you asking the staff at both hotels for their food recommendations.  We each ordered something that they recommended to us and we were not disappointed.

The next morning, we had brunch at Printworks Bistro and it was delightful.  The atmosphere is bright and airy and perfect for a leisurely weekend brunch.

After brunch, we checked out of our room and headed to downtown Greensboro to check out the International Civil RIghts Center & Museum.  Greensboro was a key city in the civil rights movement as it was the beginning of the sit-in movement in 1960.  The center is in the Woolworth building and the original lunch counter and stools have been preserved.  I cannot recommend this museum enough.

After touring the museum, we headed over to the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.  This park is enormous and has so many interesting trails.  My favorite was the short walk to the Nathanael Green statue.  It was the perfect day to catch some sunshine and fresh air while exploring this park.  We only saw a small park, but it was even a scenic drive to get to the section I wanted to check out.

Your history lesson regarding this park is that it was the site of an incredibly important battle during the American Revolution.  Read more here.
