Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day, regardless of whether its celebrating with a tradition, surrounded by family and friends, or a quiet day of reflection and rest. Today, I’m sharing my annual gratitude post where I take some time to reflect on the year. Despite those rough patches that exist in life, I am incredibly grateful for all the learning experiences I have and how I have been able to move forward over obstacles. Thank you for joining my for my Thanksgiving gratitude for 2019 where I share the things to be grateful for this season.
5 things to be Grateful for this Holiday Season
A Supportive Partner:
This year has been an excellent one filled with learning and growth as David and I continue to support each other and help each other discover what sets our souls on fire. We both really love what we do, love the experiences we have, and feel that our roles are important. It makes it easier to support each other on bad days and fun to celebrate the victories. I am truly grateful to have such an understanding partner, who encourages me to explore and grow while simultaneously keeping me grounded. I always say that it ain’t sunshine and roses over here all the time because relationships are hard work. But we really have figured out what works for us as partners and it makes all the other hard stuff life throws at us easier because we work together as a team.
Family & Friends:
We are fortunate to have family and friends who are like family to support us and who are there for us whenever we need them. I say it every year, but I am thankful for the friends who support me where I’m at in life and give me the space I need to learn and grow. To be surrounded by friends who are cheer me on, check me when needed, and help with supporting my boundaries, and on my quest to be better, I am a lucky lady. This year, I’m even more thankful because three of my very loveliest friends either have moved or are in the process of moving back to North Carolina.
Last year, I learned how to set boundaries better and I carried that into 2019. It is amazing how much I learned from that experience and how much less stress I carried with me as a result. Less stress is always a good thing, amirite?
I am also thankful that I have health insurance and good doctors who have been helpful through a year that was pretty difficult health wise. While I’m not quite ready to dive into the details of this, I know that I am privileged to have the opportunity to visit doctors and for preventative care to avoid long term health concerns. I don’t take this for granted and advocate strongly for better access to health care for all.
This corner of the Internet constantly surprises me! Thank you for continuing to follow along, continuing to engage with my content on social media, and for trusting my recommendations on experiences in my home state and outside of our state lines. I always say I never knew this was possible when I started this journey in 2008 so I am humbled and honored to share a space in your day. I am looking forward to a new decade and a bit of a new and intentional direction with I’m Fixin’ To next year. Stay tuned!
Have a lovely holiday no matter how you are spending the day! I’ll see you tomorrow for my favorite post of the year featuring my favorite local businesses, experiences, and products just in time for Small Business Saturday!
