Good morning & happy Friday! We’re still decorating our home for the holidays and trying to make the most of all the moments we have together during this busy, but lovely time. We kicked off our month with a belated anniversary trip to New York City and was absolutely magical! I’ll be sharing our itinerary and experience next week. Thanks for joining me for my December 2019 coffee talk, so grab a cup and settle in. Also, this will be the last coffee talk that I’ll be doing on I’m Fixin’ To. For 2020, I’ll be sharing my monthly coffee talks through my newsletter, so be sure to sign up if you’re interested in receiving updates from I’m Fixin’ To!
Check out previous coffee talks here: January | February | March | April | May | June | July | August | September | October | November & favorite coffee shops in Raleigh here.
I am really taking this month to reflect on not only the end of the year, but the end of the decade. I’ll be spending the next couple of weeks setting my intentions for the next year, but also to set some grounding for a new year. One major change I made last year was to set and enforce boundaries, and it has made a marked difference in my every day life.
I recently shared some of my favorite festive manicures for the season. This glitter mani by Khameo at Nail Yeah! is on repeat throughout December.
I have been following the impeachment hearings for the past few weeks. I source my information from multiple sources, and one of my favorite places to get historical perspective is from Dr. Kevin M. Kruse on Twitter. I appreciate his use of primary sources to support his argument and is one of my favorite personalities on the site. Looking for other Twitter accounts to follow? Check out some of my favorites here!
David & I finally crossed off a bucket list item by crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Historically, I have struggled with doing things like this (because of my control issues that create anxiety), but I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend it if you haven’t done it before.

On Monday, I’ll be sharing my favorite things for 2019. It’s always a fun post to reflect on, and will feature some of my go-to products, locally made home decor items, and beauty products that have made my routine easier. I really wasn’t feeling gift guides this year, to be honest. I felt that the market was saturated, much like the Nordstrom sale can be, but I still curated the best North Carolina ideas. Check it out here!
I mentioned above that we are still finishing up our holiday decorations, but I went ahead and shared some scenes from our holiday home tour here. When we *finally* finish decorating, I’ll add the last few photos.
I recently picked up these boots when they were on sale at J. Crew. I love them for the cold weather and will treat them to make them water proof so I can wear them more frequently.
I’ll be surveying readers and followers on social media for what content you’d like to see in 2020 soon! Please be sure to follow along and share your thoughts. I also design my editorial calendar around the previous year’s most popular posts (see 2018 here). As we are transitioning to new ways of sending out information, such as having the monthly instagram roundups and coffee talks moving to my newsletters, I’ll also be transitioning the most popular posts for 2019 to that as well.
Thank you so much for reading and following along in my journey over here at I’m Fixin’ To. It’s one of my favorite accomplishments and I enjoy continuing to evolve this space each year.
Happy Holidays!
