David and I have done the hard research to find the best pizza in Raleigh for you. The night I met him, I asked him what his favorite meal was and, without hesitation, he said pizza. So, today, we’re bringing your our favorite pizza places in Raleigh depending on the types of pizza you like. P.S. During the COVID-19 outbreak, many of these places are offering curbside delivery or delivery. Be sure to continue supporting local businesses during this unprecedented time.
The Best Pizza in Raleigh, Ranked
Located in North Hills, Vivace has an amazing patio with delicious pizza options (plus a variety of others, as well)! I’ve tried all of their options, and cannot go wrong with their margherita pizza, but the fig and prosciutto is a great option, too! If it’s on the menu, the four cheese pizza is a good one, too! David typically will order the carne option and it really brings the heat! But, in the summer, I really do love the roasted mushroom option because of the truffle oil and lemon ricotta.
4. Lilly’s Pizza
Lilly’s Pizza is a Raleigh staple and an OG restaurant in 5 Points. Its interior is eclectic, casual, and welcoming with gourmet pizzas served with organic ingredients. There are gluten-free and vegan options available as well. Their patio seating is a great spot and perfect for enjoying a spring afternoon. Lilly’s is one of the first restaurants I dined at in Raleigh and I’ve been a big fan of either The Buddha (I love the Kalamata olives!) and the Five Point (fontina cheese, yes please)!
3. Trophy Brewing & Pizza
Trophy recently revamped its pizza spot with a bit more seating, with an amazing selection of beer, wine, and unique pizza options. Our recommendation is to order two small pies and split between each other. My go-to order is the Most Loyal (basil pesto + honey is an amazing combo, y’all!) and David typically orders the Best Dressed. You can also build your own pizza, as well, which is always fun!
2. Poole’side Pies
A new pizza joint on the Raleigh scene, and a true gem right in downtown Raleigh! If you have been here for a while, you know that Ashley Christensen can do no wrong in my eyes, and Poole’side Pies is no exception. The Five Cheese pie with the Chile garlic crunch oil is divine and Meatherita was David’s favorite. Next time, we’ll also get the macaroni frittatine and pickle juice caesar.
1. Oakwood Pizza Box
This is our absolute favorite place in Raleigh for pizza, both for dining in and take out. David loves their cheese pie with pepperoni and I love the addition of the fresh basil. You can order online and grab a 6 pack to go for a Friday night date night at home. I’ve always wanted to try the white pizza and will do that when I’m not with David because no way that he will eat anything other than the pepperoni pizza from Oakwood. It’s in an amazing neighborhood and we highly recommend this spot. Check out other date night itineraries here.
