I am a little embarrassed to admit that I do not have the best taste in music at times. Also, I am not often up on the newest TV shows, could not tell you the last time I saw a new movie in a theatre, nor can I recite or know movie quotes in the majority of situations. I am telling you all this because this feels a bit out of my comfort zone to share in terms of recommendations. However, a few months (or longer? Who knows. What is time anyway?) I started sharing the Spotify playlist I was playing in the background that day.
While I really was sharing for me so I could have my favorites for safe keeping, I recently received a question from someone asking me if I had a list of my favorite playlists on my site. I tell you this very long winded story to say that I am excited to share the 7 Spotify playlists I love playing in the background to help focus. These are the playlists that I turn on when I am reading, working on articles, or focusing at work.
7 Spotify Playlists I Use to Help Focus
HLC Island
One of my favorite candle brands, Hotel Lobby Candle, releases a playlist whenever they announce a new fragrance. This one from the Hotel Lobby Candle Island release is still one that I play frequently whenever I need a mental escape to an island (like here or here).
Hotel Lobby Jazz Music
Not to be confused with the previous playlist, this one is my favorite for a sunny afternoon. It reminds me of my last trip to New Orleans with my BFF, Amanda, where we sat on the front porch at Cavan and listened to a jazz band play all afternoon.
Lo-Fi Chill Radio
This playlist is one that I turn on if I am reading or focusing for big chunks of time. When I was in grad school, it was my go-to for researching and writing.
Atmospheric Focus
This playlist is a staple for me on Monday mornings when I am making my to-do list for the week, highlighting major tasks for my teams, website & social media, and home projects. I also enjoy it to wind down a week to make sure that I have captured everything that I will need for the next week.
Sunday Morning Jazz
A delightful, 10 song playlist perfect for a lazy Sunday morning with coffee and a late breakfast.
Workday Lounge
While this playlist is a newer addition to my rotation, it is a good, chill playlist to keep in the background during my workday. I also like to use it when I am heads’ down writing articles.
Rise
If I am feeling particularly stressed, I use this playlist to center myself. David sent it to me years ago to listen to on a day where I was having a hard time at work. It has been a favorite for me ever since then.
