Over the past few years, I have become well-versed in packing for travel, and it is one of the most important, though often the least exciting aspects of traveling. While I often pack versatile outfits that can transition from day to night, having unique jewelry options is essential to my travel outfits so that I can elevate my looks for evening or add character to more casual, daytime outfits. That said, packing jewelry in a way that keeps delicate pieces safe is important, so today, I am sharing a guide on how to pack jewelry for travel that keeps pieces in tiptop shape.

How To Pack Jewelry For Travel
When deciding how to pack your jewelry, I often wear my more valuable and sentimental jewelry, or pack pieces in a case and include those in my carry-on. I rarely have checked baggage, though I pack larger or bulkier pieces, like statement necklaces, in my larger carry-on bag instead of my trusty Lo & Sons OG bag that I use as my personal item. I use travel organizers and repurpose jewelry bags and boxes to protect my pieces in transit.
Use Jewelry Organizers for Travel

Love this option from Cuyana — Their leather products are worth the price as their quality stands the test of time.
Whether you use a jewelry roll, a travel jewelry case, or some other form of a jewelry organizer, this is a great way to keep jewelry items safe and organized for your travels. I often pack lots of earrings for travel, and store my jewelry in a carry-on, so I use this one for my everyday jewelry. For larger or more delicate earrings for travel, I use boxes that my jewelry comes packaged in to keep those separate.
Consider a Pill Organizer or Case for Small Jewelry

Consider using a pill case or organizer when packing earrings like studs, huggies, or even rings. I like these small, round pill containers that are stackable, not just for jewelry, but also for other toiletries. Small earrings and rings are always tricky to pack so that they do not get lost, so I find having them secured in these types of containers is a good way of ensuring that I do not lose anything.
Repurpose a Toilet Paper Roll for Chains

This is a great way to pack necklaces for travel as it keeps necklaces from tangling. Here’s what to do: Slide one side of your necklace through the toilet paper roll. Then, clasp the necklace together. Consider wrapping your necklace in a piece of tissue paper and tuck that package in between clothes in your carry-on or checked luggage, especially if there are stones on the necklace. Cut the toilet paper roll in two if you have more than one necklace you are trying to bring with you. You could also do this with paper straws for smaller necklaces, too.
Bring Versatile Jewelry to Mix and Match

I love a statement earring, so I usually bring my favorite ones to dress up outfits at night. This makes it easier to change up my looks without having to bring a ton of clothes, which saves space in packing. My go-to favorite pair of statement earrings that I always pack for my trip are these.
Reuse Jewelry Bags to Keep Jewelry Safe

For any of the jewelry that you purchase that is packaged in a silk bag or a larger box, hang on to those, especially for larger pieces. This helps keep your jewelry safe and also is good for the environment. I keep bags from larger earrings or delicate necklaces and incorporate that in my jewelry organizers for keeping my delicate necklaces safe. You can also use those bags for other items, too! I use these reusable bags for packing my phone and watch charger and other small items.
