I am not usually one for dessert, but when the warm weather and humidity hit, I start craving ice cream in a waffle cone. I have always loved Two Roosters and their food truck, because, duh, but their store front is just as adorable. Their ice cream flavors are so delicious and I love their community outreach and collaboration with other companies, like Sola Coffee.
Glory and I met here to sample flavors just in time for the warm weather and I opted for a waffle cone, which is my go-to. Glory opted for a milkshake, and I couldn’t get over how cute their presentation is for their milkshakes.
I love that Two Roosters is rooted in family history, with Two Roosters being a nod to his grandmother’s home (also seen in the wood framed photo hanging in the restaurant). Two Roosters uses local milk from dairy farms at Homeland Creamery and NC State Dairy, and as the granddaughter of eastern NC dairy farmers, I appreciate that he uses local dairy milk in his creations.
My personal favorite flavors are the blackberry hibiscus and roasted strawberry & honey. Glory sampled the Girl Scout Mint milkshake, and for the taste that I had, it was absolutely delicious. I love following along with Two Roosters on their Instagram account to see their flavor taste tests and the feedback they ask for from their fans. But, even more so, I loved seeing their work with local elementary schools. As a public school employee and enthusiast, I love the partnership that Two Roosters has created, and the role model that Jared is for these young students. Lastly, while we were at Two Roosters, listening to the employee banter was so fun and comfortable. It was apparent that the staff loves working together and they have such a great presence in the shop.
If you have not tried Two Roosters, you can check them out at their location on Lead Mine Road in Raleigh, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, or on the road in the food truck. Be sure you try the blackberry hibiscus. You won’t be disappointed.
