It’s hard to believe I’m saying this considering the plans I had for this year back in January, but this is my first official travel post of 2020 since my recap of the Bahamas and New Orleans back at the beginning of the year. This year has been one of the history books and has given me a lot to reflect on about where I find my creative energy. I shared some travel tips from earlier in the summer on how David and I were starting to venture out during the global pandemic, and I’m excited to share more with you today from a recent stay at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock! Be sure to check out this post for the best of Blowing Rock! It’s a great town to visit anytime, and especially right now for socially distant travel options!
Where to Stay in Blowing Rock: a Meadowbrook Inn Review
It had been a couple of years since we visited Blowing Rock, and this trip came at the perfect time for getting out of town for a change of scenery. My friend, Clarke, has been one of the few people I’ve consistently seen during the quarantine, so she and I went for a little girls’ weekend getaway to enjoy low humidity and cooler mountain temperatures and the Meadowbrook Inn is a perfect spot to do that in Blowing Rock!
Meadowbrook Inn Blowing Rock – Accommodations
Meadowbrook Inn is a beautifully tranquil retreat in the mountains with spacious rooms and suites. There are 62 cozy rooms on the property with comfortable beds, soothing bath amenities, and a great location to downtown Blowing Rock. We stayed in a Deluxe King Room which was located in the Annex Building. This room features a fireplace, sunrooms with a hill view, an enormous bathroom with an air massage hydrotherapy tub, which is great after a day of hiking!
There are several room options available both in the main building and in the Annex that fit any travel needs for both non-pandemic travel and for our current travel situation.

Meadowbrook Inn Blowing Rock – Amenities and Location
The property at Meadowbrook is expansive and is a nice place to stroll around. We also really loved feeding the resident ducks with duck food from the Front Office. In non-COVID times, there is a complimentary hot breakfast served daily, coffee, tea, and infused water each morning, and a welcome reception in the afternoons. There are still options to order wine, beer, small plates, and desserts every day at 5:00PM. And there are outdoor fire tables located on the Terrace that are lit from 7:00-10:00PM, weather permitting.
Located one block from restaurants, shops, and art galleries on Blowing Rock’s Main Street, it’s a lovely home base and an enjoyable stroll to get to those venues.

Meadowbrook Inn Blowing Rock – COVID-19 Procedures
The Meadowbrook Inn has procedures for COVID-19 that made this experience even safer. There is frequent cleaning of public areas, socially distant spacing in public areas, and modified check-in and check-out procedures. For in-room amenities, hair dryers, make-up mirrors, and DVD players are available upon request. In-room housekeeping services are available on a limited to delivery of fresh towels and amenities. There are Hiker on the Go breakfast bags available right now in place of the hot breakfast option. The fitness center was closed when we went and the indoor swimming pool is available to guests by appointment through the Front Desk. This is subject to change as North Carolina transitions to a new phase of re-opening.

The Meadowbrook Inn is offering a couple of great booking options through their website right now. If you book September 1-November 30, you’ll receive 15% off the rack rate. On select days, if you book 3 nights, you get the third night for 50% off!
For our trip, I drove a Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition pictured throughout this post thanks to Southeast Toyota Distributors. More to come on our experience in the Blowing Rock post! For the immediate, just know that it was an incredible SUV that drove well up mountain roads and was spacious for all our luggage and 4 hour drive from Raleigh!
