Since our move last summer, we have enjoyed exploring even more of downtown Raleigh. It’s a quick 20 minute drive for us to downtown Raleigh, which is a convenient place for us to meet friends or have a date night. One of my favorite spots for happy hour, kicking off a girls’ night out, or a date night with David is at Whiskey Kitchen. There is something for everyone at this restaurant. It holds the perfect patio for al fresco dining, a gorgeous bar area, and fun table service. I especially love the oysters at Whiskey Kitchen and their wedged taters.
I met my friend Lauren here for an early dinner and some girl talk. We decided to sit at the bar area to start before moving outdoors to the patio. The weather in North Carolina has been scorching hot, but we got lucky with a relatively cool evening to enjoy the outdoors!
For starters, we had heirloom tomatoes with burrata and fried okra. It seems like most people are ready for fall, but I am not quite ready to give up fresh veggie season for this very reason.
For our large plates, we ordered the Panzanella salad, the fried chicken sandwich, and the shrimp roll. The fried chicken sandwich is a new comer to the all-day menu and it is absolutely delicious.
While we were there, we learned that Whiskey Kitchen offers a whiskey tasting in the restaurant lounge every Tuesday from 7-9. This is an awesome opportunity to mingle and learn more about the cocktails served in the restaurant.
We had a truly delicious and enjoyable night outdoors at Whiskey Kitchen. I am already looking forward to our return trip to sample more off the menu. My next trip will definitely include boiled peanuts.
