Last month, David and I made a speedy trip to Washington, D.C. to celebrate his birthday by taking in a Buffalo Bills football game when they played the Washington Commanders. We called the George Hotel, a Kimpton property, home for the weekend, and as always, Kimpton did not disappoint. The location cannot be beat, conveniently located close to Union Station and a short rideshare ride away from some of the spots we wanted to visit on our whirlwind trip. Here is a look at our full review of George Hotel for your next trip to the nation’s Capitol.
Our Weekend at George Hotel on Capitol Hill: a Review
George Hotel – Accommodations
One of my favorite aspects of staying at a Kimpton Hotel is how well-appointed their rooms are while also being welcoming and cozy! There are 7 room types, including a Presidential suite, available at the George Hotel. The nods to George Washington were quite enjoyable for me and our room had the softest bed linens and towels. I also appreciate that each room comes with a coffee maker + bottled water.
George Hotel – Amenities

Kimpton Hotel amenities are perhaps the best part of staying there. From the morning coffee & tea station to the evening happy hour serving wines to patrons, that is just the tip of the iceberg. All Kimpton hotels are dog-friendly and feature quirky nods to the relevance of the hotel’s history. George Hotel does a great job of bringing history alive for George Washington and features great artwork! There is also a 24-hour fitness center, access to community bikes, and in-room yoga mats. Forgot something? Call the desk–they keep a well-stocked cabinet of items that you may have forgotten. If they do not have it, they will go get it for you.
George Hotel – Location and Dining

George Hotel is located a few blocks from Union Station, making it convenient for getting around the city. We also enjoyed the location for being able to walk around Capitol Hill to take in some iconic sites. The hotel restaurant is Bistro Bis, a French restaurant, featuring a nice wine list and food menu! We stopped in for a quick drink and order of Pomme Frites before heading off on our evening adventures.
I cannot recommend a stay here enough for your next visit to Washington, D.C.! We truly enjoyed it and will be making a return stay here the next time we are in town.
