At the beginning of the month, David and I visited Chicago for a weekend getaway. It was the first time that David has visited the Windy City and my first time back since 2019! We stayed at Le Méridien Essex Chicago, which is located right across the street from Grant Park along Michigan Ave. It is located right off the Red Line and a short Lyft ride to other parts of the city. We loved the sweeping views of the city, espresso machines, and cozy bedding. Here is my complete review of our stay at the Le Méridien Essex Chicago.

Le Méridien Essex Chicago Review
Le Méridien Essex Chicago Review – Accommodations
The hotel offers 5 room types and they all offer floor to ceiling views of Grant Park, Lake Michigan, and the skyline. The rooms have the softest bed linens, reading lights in the headboards, espresso machines in every room, plus a hand held garment steamer and robe in every room.

Le Méridien Essex Chicago Review – Amenities and Location
Located right on Michigan Avenue, the hotel is within walking distance from the Roosevelt stop on the red line, close the Bean and the Magnificent Mile. It is a quick subway ride or Lyft ride away from various parts of the city, as well. The hotel recently underwent a renovation, so the hotel offers updated technology resources, including wireless chargers in every room plus USB outlets. It is a Marriott property, so using the Convoy app, it is easy to request housekeeping, extra towels, toiletries, etc. plus use a mobile key feature. We had a late flight that got us in close to 9:00PM, so I was able to use the app to alert them of our arrival time as well.

Le Méridien Essex Chicago Review – Where to Eat & Drink
Grant Park Bistro is located on the first floor of Le Méridien Essex Chicago with beautiful patio seating right along Michigan Avenue. It’s the perfect spot for people watching in Grant Park. The restaurant serves up delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a great happy hour option. For breakfast, I had the avocado toast while David had the sausage scramble. We also had dinner here one night where we ordered casual entrees of sandwiches. While staying at Le Méridien Essex Chicago, you receive a $15 credit to Grant Park Bistro to use.
