sEastern North Carolina is my home region in NC and there is just something about being back there that sets my soul on fire. A few weeks ago, David and I decided to head down to eastern North Carolina a night early to stay at Between Water and Main Bed & Breakfast in Belhaven before heading over to Ocracoke. I had been to Belhaven only once before and did not get to spend a lot of time there, so I was excited to go down with some time to explore the town a little bit. Our stay at Between Water and Main was the perfect way to start our vacation and to learn more about the town of Belhaven.
North Carolina Favorite: Between Water and Main Bed & Breakfast in Belhaven
Between Water and Main – Accommodations
The beautifully restored Victorian home has partial views of the Intracoastal, a comfortable sitting room, four gorgeous bedrooms, and a separate 2 room cottage that is pet-friendly. We stayed in the Belhaven and I thoroughly enjoyed having coffee on the window seat, the dual shower heads were a treat, and I always enjoy rooms with bathrobes. The room has beautiful natural lighting and and amazing hardwood floors. The Beaufort is the inn’s special occasion suite and has a clawfoot soaking tub, a large separate shower, and a King bed. The fabrics in all of the rooms are stunning and carefully curated to go along with the antique furnishings. Each room also comes with alarm clocks with charging stations and a sound machine, which was a really nice touch.

Between Water and Main – Amenities & Location
There are great amenities at the Bed & Breakfast including this gorgeous coffee and tea bar. The sitting area is spacious with partial water views, and in the evenings from 5:00-6:00, Kasey makes delicious cocktails and serves them in gorgeous glasses, like these milk glass hobnail glasses. The night we were there, we had the Pungo Pirate, made with rum and pressed Elderberry/Apple from an organic farm in Connecticut.
Between Water and Main provides WiFi and has a common TV area downstairs. There is also a yoga studio, a patio, and gardens to enjoy on the property as well! It is conveniently located on the Intracoastal Waterway and is within walking distance of the public dock, local shops and restaurants, and the Belhaven marina. We enjoyed walking around downtown to shop and have supper.
There are many unique touches to the space, including the antiques and the fabrics used. However, I loved the China and the connection to Belhaven. I’ll be sharing more on this in my Belhaven travel guide!

Between Water and Main – Food
Each morning, there is Greek yogurt, homemade granola, and fresh fruit. The breakfast menu changes. But we were lucky to have the signature Blueberry Lemon Bread Pudding made from Molly’s scratch blueberry lemon bread. We haven’t stopped raving about this dish since we got back. Kasey and Molly focus on growing their own herbs, tomatoes, melons, and peppers to use at the inn. They also use local produce and dairy products and maple syrup from the organic farm in Connecticut. This special touch is a nice connection between Kasey’s home in Connecticut and the inn.
Making Things from Scratch
Molly, one of the innkeepers, is from Rocky Mount, and we share the same love of eastern NC farming communities. She has incorporated her experiences into her coastal life in Belhaven. Being nothing but warm and welcoming. Making it easy to chat with her. Something that quickly became one of our favorite things to do during our stay!
Aside from her pleasant demeanor, Molly sources a lot of the food to use at the inn, and keeps her family heritage alive through preserving items. One of which was 5 pints of cherry preserves that she recently made! The connection Molly and Kasey have to Belhaven is intriguing. They are each bringing their personal experiences to this quaint inn and sharing it with guests. You can purchase the maple syrup from the organic Connecticut farm to take home with you. Or you can purchase the coffee used in Between Water and Main. A private blend that comes in regular or decaf. They also use bath products made in NC by Whispering Willow. David and I felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed hearing the story of the inn. Along with the unique and personal touches throughout, and the beautiful town of Belhaven.
Whether you’re on the way to Ocracoke, wanting to explore a new town in NC, or to find a place to slow down and relax, Between Water and Main is the perfect spot. We cannot wait to return, especially for more of the blueberry lemon bread pudding!

Thank you to Kasey and Molly of Between Water and Main for partnering with I’m Fixin’ To for this experience! As always, all opinions are my own.
