Good morning and happy Monday, friends! It’s going to be a two cup of coffee morning today coming back to work after a week off. DG and I had the best time at the beginning of spring break in Blowing Rock and I can’t wait to share our trip with you over the next couple of weeks. We have been to Blowing Rock in the past, but it was in the fall and a peak tourist season. This trip was the perfect speed for us to truly be able to relax on vacation, and we enjoyed strolling through Blowing Rock, checking out some of the parks in the area, and enjoying each other’s company. So today’s weekending will be what we packed for our Spring Break in Blowing Rock.
This Land Rover Discovery Sport from Land Rover Cary is the perfect vehicle for driving up the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The off-road capabilities of a Land Rover is undeniable and this particular model is a great size for DG and me. I really loved the moon roof and the Meridien surround sound, but I think my favorite features were the steering features. These features include a steering assistant to keep from overcorrecting, which was especially handy on the winding roads on the Blue Ridge and a detector that slows the car down if the cruise is set as you approach another vehicle. I told DG that I would love this to be our next car.
When it came to packing, I wanted to be prepared for all temperatures and weather. The past two spring break trips we’ve been on, I’ve under packed and ended up freezing. So, I wanted to be better prepared this time. I went to Great Outdoor Provision Company in Cameron Village to stock up on some of our favorites. I wore this Patagonia pullover daily but I also snagged a Patagonia rain coat for me, a North Face one for DG, and a new Tilley hat for DG. My dad and DG love these hats for the beach, but DG found it helpful when we climbed Grandfather Mountain to protect his head and face. We also packed our favorite drinks (Tangerine La Croix and green tea), fruit, trail mix, and sandwiches for our hike in the Yeti, and we loved the Yeti koozies to keep our drinks cold after we had opened them. And the Hydro Flask water bottles were handy on our hikes in the Patagonia back pack that also held my camera, maps, and extra layers.
Check out Land Rover Cary and Great Outdoor Provision Company for your spring outdoor adventure needs. Here are two other adventures in Land Rover here and here.
Stay tuned for Wednesday’s post about our stay at The New Public House & Hotel.
