I saw on Instagram during the middle of the week that there was a photo a day challenge for homes. I don’t always like to do these pictures on Instagram because I feel like I clog up people’s feed. However, I loved the concept so I figured I would do it as a Suburb Sunday post each week for the month of November.
I took this picture below on Halloween to do a kick off to the challenge.
Day 1: Favorite Room in Your Home
This is my retreat. I make it a point to make this room as calm and comforting as possible. I used to have such anxiety and it was because I was working from bed, watching TV, and/or stressing about things which prevented me from sleeping. Once I stopped allowing those things in this room, I have no trouble sleeping any longer. I also love to light a candle while I’m getting ready for bed. My current favorite is Bath and Body Works Bergamot Woods with Mahogany Teakwood wall flowers.
Day 2: Something that Reminds You of Your Childhood
This table and the four chairs were handed down from my great grandparents. My mom and dad used this table and chairs in their kitchen in the two houses that I lived in throughout childhood. My junior year in college, I moved into an unfurnished one bedroom apartment and my mom gave me the set. The chairs have been painted so many different colors throughout the years, but I am obsessed with this set and can’t bring myself to part with it.
Day 3: The thing in your home that means the most to you
I’ve posted about this picture before but this picture is really important to me. DG painted this painting for me two years ago this Christmas. It is of the Silver Lake harbor at Ocracoke Island where my family has vacationed since I was in elementary school. It hangs in the dining room and I can’t help but stop and admire it whenever I see it.
Stay tuned next week for the next set!
Such a great Instagram idea!!
