A holiday favorite that started during the winter of 2020 was the winter wonderland of igloos on the patio at the Unscripted Hotel in Durham. This is one of my favorite spots in Durham anyway, and it is magically transformed with sweeping views of the Durham skyline and the coziest vibes. The best part is that the igloos stay open through March, so there is still time to make a reservation and enjoy before they begin prepping for spring and summer on the patio! Winter Igloos at the Unscripted Hotel in Durham
I headed to the igloos with a few of my friends on a chilly Thursday evening! We started with a bottle of wine, the spinach and artichoke dip and a charcuterie board. Whatever you do, order the spinach and artichoke dip! It is hands down the best I’ve had–the texture and the lil’ kick was scrumptious!

For our next round of food, we ordered the parmesan truffle fries (duh), the crispy Brussels sprouts, stuffed mushrooms, and the baked lobster mac & cheese to share! Would 10/10 recommend all of those as well! The parmesan truffle fries were absolutely delicious!

As for cocktails, we each tried one of the seasonal cocktails available for the igloos! I ordered Boozy Hot Chocolate with Kahula, while the Winter Aperol Spritz, a traditional Aperol spritz with hints of pomegranate and rosemary, and the Naughty and Nice Margarita, with jalapeño and cranberry!
Each igloo is available for parties between 4 to 10 people. Reservations are a minimum of 2 hours and require certain minimums. Hours are available on the website here. Walk-ins are available based on availability, though a reservation is highly recommended since the igloos are different sizes.

I cannot recommend a night at the igloos at the Unscripted Hotel enough! And once you are finished at the igloos, head to one of the local bars for a night cap. Our personal favorite is Kingfisher, located right around the corner from the Unscripted! For more Durham favorites, check out this page!

Special thanks to Bolt PR and the Unscripted Hotel for hosting us for a night in the igloos. As always, all opinions are my own!
