For our anniversary, David and I decided to take a trip to a part of North Carolina we were unfamiliar with to relax and explore. Lakeview at Fontana has been on my list of places to visit for a couple of years now, so we were both excited to stay at this spot for a few days. I definitely want to make this an annual trip for us because it was such a relaxing retreat with lots to do around the area.
While Lakeview at Fontana is a boutique spa hotel, it is unpretentious and the staff makes you feel right at home. The daily breakfast and wine hour are inclusive to the guests and create an environment for getting to know one another.
Lakeview at Fontana – Accommodations
Lakeview at Fontana offers a variety of rooms, including suites with kitchenettes. We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom suites and truly wished we had brought friends along with us. It was such a great space and had an amazing balcony with a perfect view of the lake! The rooms do not have TVs to encourage unwinding and unplugging. We really appreciated that and both caught up on some reading and much needed rest. The suites would definitely be great for a girls’ weekend away, too. There are two pet-friendly rooms on the property as well.
It is seasonal, with availability April 6-November 18. Also, the property is 100% smoke free, and observes quiet hours from 10:00PM to 9:00AM.
Lakeview at Fontana – Amenities & Location
There is a delightful spa on the property that offers massages, facials, and body treatments. There is a pool that is quiet and secluded and was perfect for an afternoon nap. Also included on the property is a hiking trail through 50 wooded acres and a yoga studio, with yoga being offered every morning at 9:00.
We both had relaxation massages plus David had a man’s rescue facial and I had a Vitamin C anti-aging paraffin facial.
Since there aren’t TVs and WiFi in the rooms, there are two different common areas, the TV room, and a cafe with a computer and WiFi access.
The real jewel of the property is the Treetop Soaking Tub. You get 90 minutes to take in the view with your choice of bath salts. This was hands down my favorite part of the trip.
Lakeview at Fontana – Food
Each morning, the staff at Lakeview prepare breakfast with French press coffee, assorted pastries, super oats, Greek yogurt, and granola. Then each evening, they host a wine hour with assorted cheeses. We really enjoyed the time to ask for suggestions each morning and wind down each evening. Most restaurants in the area close early, so it was the perfect appetizer before dinner.
Lakeview at Fontana was the perfect trip for us. We are definitely looking forward to traveling back to the area and staying with them again. We felt rejuvenated from our trip, and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Stay tuned next week for when I share what to do in Bryson City.
