February is Black History Month, and one of my favorite ways to celebrate is to put my money where my values are — especially when it comes to jewelry. Earrings are one of my go-to ways to make a fashion statement, and over the years a handful of Black women jewelry designers have become absolute staples in my collection. Whether you gravitate toward statement earrings like I do, or you prefer necklaces, bracelets, and rings, every designer below creates stunning pieces across the board. Edas is the brainchild of Philly-born, Brooklyn-based designer Sade Mims — and yes, the name is “Sade” spelled backward, which tells you everything about how personal this brand is to her. Founded in 2013 out of her Bed-Stuy studio, Edas is a sustainable lifestyle and accessories brand rooted in careful craftsmanship, storytelling, and a deep respect for the women who inspired Mims’ vision. Her jewelry is abstract and expressionist, with pieces that feel genuinely one-of-a-kind. The brand has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and WWD and has some of the coolest pieces.
Humans Before Handles

What I love most about this brand is the accessibility — most all pieces are under $50 (necklaces are the exception), which means you can build a genuinely fun, expressive collection without breaking the bank. The designs are bold and bright, perfect for spring and summer travels or simply adding some personality to everyday outfits. If you have been looking for a playful jewelry brand that is as affordable as it is unique, start here. One interesting component of this brand is it is sold at pop-ups around Atlanta, though you can shop their Instagram page when they post certain pieces. I love this unique concept just as much as I love their styles!
Jam+Rico
My Jam+Rico love story started the way the best ones do — a friend sent me a picture of these beautiful large leaf earrings with the message, “I feel like you need these.” She was right. Those earrings are still among my most-worn: lightweight, a beautiful gold, and somehow they go with absolutely everything. I have since paired them with a spring dress, with overalls and booties, and pretty much every work-from-home outfit in between.
Sadly, they are sold out, though this pair and this pair are fun alternatives. My parents gifted me another pair of their earrings, and I love their unique take on the classic hoop — elevated enough for a formal occasion, casual enough for everyday. JLANI Jewels

JLANI Jewels was born out of a very relatable problem: founder Lani Nesbit has sensitive skin and couldn’t find nickel-free jewelry she actually loved, so she made her own. The result is an eco-friendly, quality-driven line that has since adorned the necks, wrists, and ears of Beyoncé, Issa Rae, Megan thee Stallion, and Kelly Rowland, among others. The brand sits at the intersection of accessibility and luxury — mid-range pricing for pieces that feel, and wear, like something far more expensive. JLANI Jewels is one to watch and build a collection.
We Dream in Colour
I first discovered We Dream in Colour while staying at Hotel Emeline, where I stumbled across a pair of their earrings in the hotel’s Keep Shop — and I was immediately hooked. The pieces are large and sculptural, yet somehow featherlight (a non-negotiable for me when it comes to statement earrings). Beyond the stunning aesthetics, We Dream in Colour is deeply committed to sustainability, and each piece is handmade. That combination of beauty, conscience, and craftsmanship is rare. This brand has been in my rotation for years and it is not going anywhere.

Final Thoughts
Supporting Black women-owned businesses is something we can do every month, not just in February; though, Black History Month is a beautiful reminder to be intentional about where we spend. Each of these designers brings something distinct to the table: playful color, fine craftsmanship, sustainability, and storytelling.
