While being in quarantine and social distancing isn’t exactly what I had in mind during patio season, David and I have made the best of the situation by continuing some of our favorite traditions. During a normal work week, David and I made a point of having a weekly date night every Friday, and we’ve continued that tradition into quarantine. We pick a spot, order take out, and take the boys for a ride with us to pick it up, and unwinding with happy hour together. It gives me something to look forward to each week and we have been trying new restaurants and wines, which is something exciting during this time. Today, we are sharing 6 of my top 10 best wines to try while social distancing!
While I am not an expert wine taster, it is worth noting that I tend to like dry wines. I tend to prefer white wine to red, but for reds, I tend to drink Malbecs, tempranillos, and montepulciano. I also like sparkling wines, with Prosecco being my favorite type of wine. So, below are some of my favorite wines that I’ve tried during the COVID-19 quarantine to fit my tastes.
6 of the Top 10 Best Wines to Try While Social Distancing
Castillo Clavijo Rioja Tempranillo

I love a Tempranillo, and this one is smooth, with hints of strawberry, cherry, and vanilla. It’s a delicious option for an amazing price.

Finca Flinchman Malbec
This Malbec has some spice, some oak, and some smokey flavors in it, and is a delightful pick for a cooler evening. It’s under $20 and a nice option!
Laudato Pinot Grigio
This pinot grigio is bottled by Santa Margherita, and it’s a medium-bodied, crisp option. It’s about $10 less than Santa Margherita and is bottled just for Total Wine. It’s a solid option, particularly during this time.
A great hand cream, Hunter Blake earrings, and a good read.
La Vostra Prosecco

I absolutely adore this Prosecco! It’s got hints of honeysuckle, apple, and pear and a great option for a bubbly wine. This candle has been a lovely addition to my night time routine.
Louis Bouillot Perle d’Aurore Brut Rosé

This is the priciest option out of all the picks shared here, but it’s a nice option to have for celebrating life, especially during this time. You can find some of our favorite Raleigh restaurants offering curbside delivery here.
Nobilis Vinho Verde

This wine is light and refreshing, and is perfect for an afternoon on a front porch or patio, depending on where you are self distancing. I’ve been a fan of this wine for several years now and I’m always forget how fresh it is! The fizz is a nice touch, too. Shop my Pottery Barn wine cooler here.
All of these wines are available from Total Wine, which has online ordering with in store pick up. If you’re looking for local options, The Wine Feed in Raleigh and Durham are offering curbside pickup and delivery options while the Wine Authorities is open daily for curbside pick up.
