A couple of weeks ago, I made a trip to Be Pure Beauty in University Place in Chapel Hill to meet with April. Â April started Be Pure Beauty after learning that some of her health issues were caused by products that she was using on her skin. Â I made the switch to healthier skin care two years ago, but will be completely honest and tell you that sometimes I still use the bad stuff.
Prior to meeting with April, I noticed that my skin was really acting up. Â I was experiencing a lot of breakouts, dark spots, and even areas of my skin were red and splotchy, which is pretty uncommon for me. Â I thought that perhaps it was triggered by the stress I was experiencing from the move, but when I reflected on my skin care products, I realized that it could also be from a new product I was using.
April had me download the Think Dirty app and check the rating on some of the current products I was using. Â Some of the lippies in my purse had a rating of 10 on the toxin scale, and I almost fell out of my chair. Â So, part of what April helped me with was switching some of my products over to safer, natural products.
One of the things I love about April’s shop is that she has an area set aside to demonstrate how to use the make up products she carries. Â She demoed several products on me and I couldn’t believe how well the products blended and how fresh my skin looked with these products. Â April is so detail-oriented, and knows most of her customers by name and/or by favorite products. Â Several repeat customers came in to restock on products while I was in the shop, and April remembered their favorite shades and offered other suggestions based off that information. Â It was really impressive how well she remembered these details about her customer base.
I also love the aesthetics of the store. Â April carries one of my favorite brands, Herbivore, in addition to having great options for men. Â April also makes Hidden Forest, a natural skin care line, in the shop, and I am currently using one of the face washes, toners, and bath soaks she makes. Â DG has even enjoyed using the bath soak after some of the long days of doing work around the house.
If you are looking to make the switch to healthier skin care and make up, head over to Be Pure Beauty to meet with April. Â After telling her my skin type and current concerns, she was able to make recommendations for me. Â In two weeks, I have seen great changes in my skin. Â I’ve listed the products below that April demoed on me, and then the skin care products that we are currently using in our routine. Â Not local? Â Drop her a line. Â She still can make recommendations and their website is beautiful! Â Plus there is free shipping in the US!

What a gorgeous space. And of course I’m loving your Anchor Beads!!
I kind of want to check out that app but I’m also kind of scared. You know I am very attached and partial to some of my makeup. I am going to go check out her site though. Loved this post!
