Good morning & Happy Friday! I’m back after a brief vacation getaway to Ocracoke, which marks the 22nd consecutive year that I’ve vacationed there with my family. I’ll be honest and tell you that I’ve been struggling a little bit recently. Seeing what feels like the same things over and over again on Instagram and a bit uninspired and wanting to spend more time truly experiencing and enjoying my time traveling or with friends and family has made this space feel a bit different than how I’ve felt in the past. But I’m excited about some upcoming content and am hoping to get back into a consistent posting schedule. Thanks for joining in on this month’s coffee talk!

I mentioned in this post, where I shared my favorite podcasts, about how I’ve been fascinated with learning about MLMs and the history of these businesses, the gendering of it, and the affects of it in small towns. My friend, Hannah, shared this Vice video about LuLaRoe and this documentary on Netflix.
This outfit has been my summer go-to: Bohme Top | Levi’s Jeans | Steve Madden Sandals | Amazon Earrings
David and I are making progress on our home office (see the inspiration post here) and I am so excited to share the finished product with you soon. Want to see more of our home improvement projects? Check out how to install a mudroom bench, how to install a reclaimed wood wall, and how we upped our curb appeal with Vantage shutters. You can see more projects from our old house & our ranch here.
I’m doing a major closet clean out over the next month. Be sure to follow along on Poshmark for listings!
This article about how to declutter your bedroom is one that I’ll be relying on again. I’m a magazine and notebook hoarder and really need to be better about getting rid of that from my space. I like this great reminder of how to declutter when you’re feeling overwhelmed, too. I honestly go through these phases where I want to purge everything, and this is one of those times. The Nordstrom Sale hype always gets me thinking about consumerism and overindulgence and I think that’s part of why I’m wanting to simplify.
I have long been a fan of Dan Le Batard, but this right here? I’m here for it. People are multidimensional and sticking with “one” interest when so many are intertwined into others is an asinine. Using influence for inclusion, speaking out against racism, and equality, is exactly what should happen. Dissent is patriotic.
A similar post regarding what it means to travel as a writer is sitting in my drafts, but Allie nails it. Also, you should follow her–her Instagram posts & her Instastories are gorgeous!
Our anniversary trip to Montreal was cancelled because of a flight issue, but I’ve recently realized that perhaps it was to help me get back to the real reason I began this blog. David and I had more time to head down to eastern North Carolina and check out a town I hadn’t been to in years. I’m excited to share that with you in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you can see some of my favorite places in eastern NC here.
In case you forgot how cute my dogs are, here is a reminder.

Lastly, I’ve been working on being better about relaxing, taking breaks, and being present. I’m still not great at taking vacations. I feel guilty because the list of things to do is ever growing. However, our recent trip to Ocracoke was a nice reminder about why vacations are important. I captioned this picture “Vacation Meghan” because here I am, with no make-up, no heat products touching my hair, and a bit disconnected from reality. I don’t hate it. J. Crew Dress
