Welcome back to I’m Fixin’ To in 2017!  Can you believe how fast 2016 went, y’all?  And I mean, here we are already in day 2 of the new year.  I decided that for 2017, I want to simplify.  I went through a big purge over break, and DG and I made a pact to avoid taking in any new clutter.  Also, did you see that challenge on Facebook with the words that moved quickly through an image and the instructions were to take a screenshot to see what your word for 2017 is?  Well, I did it and mine was balance.  Balance is something I started missing in the fall, and I am looking forward to being more intentional with that.  With that in mind, here are my vague goals for 2017.
Prioritize.
Prioritizing is something I forgot in the last two quarters of 2016. Â I want to prioritize my wants, my time, and my to-dos. Â I learned how precious my time was with the unexpected passing of one of my mentors, and I don’t want to waste my time on things that don’t bring me happiness or fulfillment.
Exercise.
For 6 months, I have been consistent with Pure Barre. Â I did prioritize my health in June, and it is something that will continue to get my time and attention. Â However, I’d like to begin running short distances again so I can take Gizmo with me. Â He does really well with running. Â I’ll also rope in continuing to eat healthy(ish) and avoiding soda.
Explore.
I mentioned in last week’s post that we didn’t get to go to Europe in 2016, so I’m not going to make promises here that we’ll get there this year. Â I am hopeful we can, but we just may not. Â So, I’ll take advantage of exploring when I can. Â Some of my favorite memories from 2016 were random weekends of exploring Raleigh with DG, exploring NC with my dad (hey Dad!), or overnight staycations with my girlfriends.
Relax.
Lord knows I need to relax more. Â I’m not good at it. Â I never have been. Â When I was in college, my BFF would come over to watch a movie, and I’d never sit down to watch the whole thing. Â I’d do loads of laundry, clean my kitchen, sweep, or fall asleep. Â I would like to be better at it. Â Is that weird?
Grow.
This is both personally and professionally. Â The more I know, the less I feel I actually know. Â I am constantly reading to learn more about random things that peak my interest. Â I’d like to go on record here that one of the things that I discovered at the end of 2015 was that I am interested in is Eastern North Carolina and education. Â I’ve been on a mission of trying to figure out how all those paths merge. Â I still haven’t found the answers after almost 2 years of soul searching, but I’m closer than I was before. Â Also, I want to continue to grow professionally both in my real life job, but also here on I’m Fixin’ To and with my freelance writing.
Alright, y’all. Â That’s it. Â What’s on your goal list for 2017? Â I don’t know about you, but there is something so exciting about a clean slate of a new year!

I love making goals! I have actually planned 4 trips in 2017, and hope to set a goal to get in shape.

Yessss to prioritizing! I need to be much better about that too in 2017 instead of trying to do it all. And keep up the awesome work at barre, I can’t wait to get back to the studio now that I’m cleared to work out again. Happy New Year gurlie <3
