A couple of weeks ago, I met up with Angela, Courtney, and Glory for dinner at Hummingbird, which is one of my favorite spots in Raleigh. It was one of the first cool nights in Raleigh this fall, so it was a perfect night to sit out on the patio at Hummingbird with its colorful market lights and teal patio chairs.
Our evening started with a happy hour while looking over the menu.
We then ordered a variety of dishes to sample. Angela and Courtney are vegetarians and Glory and I will try pretty much anything, so we really enjoyed the options the menu offered for all our tastes.
We sampled the shrimp dip, shaved Brussels sprouts, smoked farro salad, winter squash aquachile, charbroiled oysters, charred cauliflower, beef & pork meatball, and frog legs. I definitely find it more enjoyable to order multiple dishes to sample when dining with friends. It was hard to pick a favorite, but I am always partial to oysters and to Brussels sprouts!
While I do not necessarily have a sweet tooth, I always like trying desserts at restaurants for the experience. Hummingbird has the best kind of desserts that aren’t too sweet and have some of my favorite ingredients. We tried the ricotta fritters, the soyer au Champagne, and the adffogato.
Hummingbird is located on Whitaker Mill Road and is the perfect spot to meet friends for happy hour after work, or to have a date night. I love the eclectic interior designs, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We loved all of the recommendations we received on dishes and drinks.
Once fall hits, I start wearing versions of black pants, camel colored sweaters (here and here), and flats. This is one of my favorite outfits for fall colors, while still being appropriate for the humidity and heat that lingers in North Carolina.
Have you been to Hummingbird? What is your favorite dish?
