I’m back for my 2nd installment of my Joy Filled Home Challenge from Instagram. If you missed my first installment, check it out here.
Day 4: The place where you think of your best ideas
The one thing that really stuck out about this house was the [relatively] enormous backyard, extended patio, and the screened in porch. The first summer, I asked DG to make mason jar candle holders and he did a great job. I love sitting out on the porch with all the candles lit to plan, think, and relax.
Day 5: The 1st Thing You Bought for Your Home When You Initially Moved In
DG and I discovered this great piece at the North Carolina Flea Market. I was obsessed right away. I painted it and use it for storage in the kitchen.
Day 6: A Picture of the Word “Inviting”
I’ve posted a similar picture before, but I love the foyer. The little trunk was found at an antique store in Jackson, NC. The cotton is from my family’s farm. The candle holder is something DG bought me our first Christmas together. The mirror and decanter are from an awesome little shop in Jackson, NC where she goes to auctions and markets and brings back fabulous pieces at even better prices. I love having this view as the first thing in the house.
Day 7: Your Comfort Food
This is my macaroni and cheese that I modified from The Pioneer Woman’s recipe. I will post my recipe for Foodie Friday soon because it is delish!
Day 8: My Favorite Thing About My Home Is…
I love this fire pit on the patio! It’s my favorite place to unwind with or without a fire.
Day 9: Something Old
It’s not super old, but it’s part of the bedroom suite my parents bought me when I was in middle school. It’s been with me through three houses with my parents, my college apartment, my two apartments in Raleigh, and now the house. I always talk about sanding it down and refinishing it with new hardware, but I can’t bring myself to do it because of all the memories I’ve had. Maybe one day…
Day 10: Something New
I’ve posted about this numerous times, but DG made me a headboard and nightstands to go in the master bedroom. I am obsessed with this DIY project that he did.
Stay tuned for next week’s installment of the Joy Filled Home Challenge!
Oh I love that last picture! The headboard is awesome – you should post a DIY! Also where did you get those pillows?! I love them! I love these little picture challenges you do!

Thanks! I will try to do a DIY of the headboard but I don't remember if I took any pictures of it while he was making it! The monogrammed pillows came from Crate & Barrel and I got the monogramming done locally. The throw pillows came from this Etsy Shop: Modernality2.
Thanks for stopping by!
