2015 Goals: How I Did

Each Morning We Are Born Again. What We Do Today Is What Matters Most.:

One of my favorite posts of the year is the reflection post about my goals from the previous year.  Here’s how I did on 2014 goals.  And here is the honest review of my goals for 2015.

1. Say no.

I didn’t do a good job with this.  Frankly, I took on even more in 2015, and often I found myself frazzled, burnt out, and not able to devote myself 100% to things that I truly care(d) about.  So, that’s why, this year, this is still my #1 priority.  Everything else will fall into place when I start making time for myself and what truly matters instead of worrying about disappointing others.

2. Stop overanalyzing situations.

This has always been a big problem for me, but I think to some extent, I got better this past year.  It will always be something that I want to work on for myself.

3. Do more things that make me happy.

This is another one that I didn’t really meet.  There were some things that I did that made me really happy, like when we traveled, when I got to run, when I was able to catch up on reading, or spend time with loved ones.  I feel like I have a year’s worth to make up for after 2015 and I can’t wait!

4. Budget.  Pay down debt.

Something we are still working on, but we are definitely in a better place than we were last year just simply from paying more attention to what we were spending and not being so frivilous.

5. Be more punctual.

Good news, I got better at this.  I still have a ways to go because there are times I still underestimate how long it takes me to get ready, but overall I felt like I got better.

Overall, I am not thrilled with my progress, but I’m excited for another year and a fresh start!  If you didn’t catch it, here are my 2016 goals.

How did you do with your goals?

  1. It feels good to just stop and honestly analyze yourself, doesn't it? I should probably make "be more punctual" one of my goals because I wasn't very good at it before Ari. Now? Impossible. I'm always texting people like, "Oops, she took way longer to eat than I anticipated." Yeah, being on time is so difficult now.

  2. I love that you stop and reflect on how you did with your goals. I need to do that! I also need to learn to say no… I struggle with that little word too. :(

  3. I understand the saying "no" thing–after this year at work, I want to be better at that as well. I think one of my goals last year was "eat more pizza," and I'm pretty sure I accomplished that :)

  4. I'm with you on saying no and doing more things that make me happy – why those are such difficult goals to accomplish, I'm not so sure. But, I'm confident that you and I both can achieve those goals this year!
