Hello, friends! I hope you are welcoming October with cooler temperatures. Unfortunately, it is still in the 90s here in North Carolina and incredibly humid. I am so ready to start decorating for fall outside–but our indoors is ready! We are looking forward to a rather calm month, a difference from my crazy busy September. Thanks for joining me for the September 2019 Instagram Roundup! I hope you have a lovely October!
WELCOME OCTOBER + SEPTEMBER INSTAGRAM ROUNDUP:
CHECK OUT PREVIOUS MONTHS’ INSTAGRAM ROUNDUP HERE: JANUARY | FEBRUARY | MARCH | APRIL | MAY | JUNE | JULY | AUGUST
I am obsessed with fall nail polish colors and this manicure by Khameo at her new place was the first to kick off the season! See my favorite fall polish colors here. Shop my Rothy sneaks here.
At the end of August, David and I snuck away for a weekend in Pinehurst. It was a lovely escape and our favorite part was relaxing at the spa. You can shop my outfit details here:
Amazon Sweater | J. Crew Skinnies | Rothy’s Flats* | J. Crew Factory Camisole | Mignonne Gavin Earrings
Use this code to get $20 off your first pair of Rothy’s. I’ll get $20 off my next pair, too!
In last month’s post, I shared my concerns about Hurricane Dorian’s impending path. The storm caused horrific flooding on Ocracoke Island, our very favorite place in North Carolina. Read more about how to help here.
I’ve been going to Ocracoke every year since 1999 and to see the devastation is gut-wrenching. Every year, we brace for harsher and harsher storms along the North Carolina coast during hurricane season. There was this amazing Op-Ed last week in the NYT, and I was disappointed to some of the comments encouraging people to leave the island because of climate change. Climate change is real, and effects of it have caused other communities on NC barrier islands to have to move, but there are people still living on Ocracoke that need our help, especially since there has not been any assistance provided from North Carolina at this time.
Recently, I’ve been struggling with finding a balance between professional life, personal life, passion project life, and dealing with some challenges with my health recently. This picture was taken on a day where I scrapped all my plans and took a night to myself with Glory to soak in the sunflowers, skyline, and try a new restaurant. Outfit details:
Free People Dress | Vince Camuto Booties (old, similar linked) | J. Crew Hat (old, similar linked) | Ray-Ban Sunnies
Our trip to Pinehurst was chilly and rainy, but these flowers were so bright and pretty. These booties are my new favorite for fall and I paired them with my favorite raincoat.
I shared some of my late summer favorite looks here, including this amazing Amazon dress find.
One of my favorite looks for fall from a favorite trip to Winston-Salem. This sweater is old, but a similar one is here that I have my eye on once the temps cool off.
One of my favorite meals in Pinehurst was this shrimp po’boy from Pinehurst Brewing Company.
Last year for our anniversary, we spent a few days at Lakeview at Fontana in Bryson City. It is such a perfect spot in North Carolina. Check out more of North Carolina’s unique hotels here.
I finally got to try Benchwarmer Bagels at Transfer Co. Food Hall and my life has changed for the better! Shop this outfit here: Madewell Overalls (on sale!) | Target Mules | Etsy Earrings
Check out my favorite coffee table books here and my favorite magazine subscriptions here.
I’ve been daydreaming of our trip to New York City as we get closer to our return trip this December. We’ve both been wanting to go at the holiday season, so since we couldn’t go on our trip to Montreal for our anniversary this year, we decided to do this instead.
I am completely obsessed with this manicure by Khameo that I wore to the Lizzo concert!
I loved this outfit I wore to the Carolina Inn, but I also loved this corner in the hotel as well. It is such a beautiful place and Chapel Hill is beautiful no matter the time of year!
September is David’s birthday month, and I threw it back to our Nashville trip with this photo. Nashville was one of his favorite trips we’ve taken. Outfit details: Top (old, similar linked) | Denim Shorts | Frye Boots
One of the best events I’ve ever been to in Raleigh was at Mandolin Farm. Their fall farm dinner was not only delicious, but was incredibly dreamy. And nothing beats holding a goat! This dress is a nice fall option–the fabric is lightweight enough for the heat, but the dress is a good cut for fall.
I shared some fun layered door mat options for entryways, including some fall specific ones, like this one.
One of the great benefits of the weather is that it’s still patio season here! I love Whiskey Kitchen and you can find other go-tos here.
Anyone else with me? I’m just trying to listen to Lizzo & Kacey Musgraves’ Neon Moon cover! Plus I love Kate’s handlettering!
I wore this outfit in Chicago a couple of years ago, and this is still one of my favorite tops. I wore it in the NYC post above, too! The sweater is sold out, but you can find a similar one here.
