A few weeks ago, I read Grace’s perfect Saturday and have not been able to stop thinking about what she wrote. Years ago, I would often get overwhelmed with travels and weekends because I thought I had to do all the things without taking a minute to rest. David and I went to New Orleans for one of our Christmas gift trips to each other, and we didn’t plan anything. We just played the whole trip by ear and it really changed my perspective on things. 2020 quarantine was another turning point in helping me prioritize rest and relaxation and not feeling like I always had to be going and doing things. So, all that said, it has changed my perspective on what my ideal, perfect Saturday would look like and I’m excited to share my idea for that in our home city of Raleigh.
My Perfect Saturday in Raleigh
I’d start by sleeping in and relaxing with a good cup of coffee and a book. After snuggling Winston & Gizmo, I’d get in a work out before grabbing Benchwarmer Bagels with Davi and the boys at Transfer Co. Food Hall.
We would stroll around downtown for a post-bagels walk and see what was happening downtown. Maybe there would be an art festival or a local market in Moore Square. We would drive over to Dorothea Dix Park to take the boys to the dog park there and sit on the grassy area with a bottle of wine, a blanket, my book, and we’d just relax in the shade.
Then, we’d head back home to shower, change, and drop the boys off. We’d venture back downtown to grab a pre-dinner drink and order of queso tots at Standard before heading to dinner. Maybe we’d head for our old faithful, Oakwood Pizza Box for a pepperoni pizza. Or maybe we’d go somewhere like Stanbury and order lots of small plates to share. Like their tuna crudo, fried oysters, bone marrow, and tagliatelle, which are all absolutely delicious.
And to finish out the evening, we’d grab a night cap at Will & Co Bar before heading home to snuggle up with the Grant boys and finish up some reading for the day while listening to a record on the record player.
Here are three date night ideas in Raleigh and the ultimate girls’ day out in Raleigh.
That’s my current idea of a perfect Saturday in the City of Oaks! I’d love to hear yours.
