Over the past couple of years, I have really enjoyed expanding my palate for wines and of course, pairing those wines with cheese. Throughout quarantine, I was regularly getting cheese boards to go from my dear friend, Kayte, who makes beautiful boards for every occasion! Thanks to her and her expertise, I discovered some great wine pairings with Trader Joe’s cheeses and thought I would share some of those for the upcoming holiday season. These would make great pairings pre-Thanksgiving dinner, for your holiday gatherings, and for a cozy night in enjoying twinkle lights and a fire. Here are 5 of the best cheese and wine pairings to try this holiday season!Â
5 Best Cheese and Wine Pairings to Try this holiday Season
Unexpected Cheddar & Bubbles
It’s hard to beat Trader Joe’s unexpected cheddar paired with bubbles. For a special occasion, I always enjoy Veuve Cliquot and a more affordable option is Mumm Brut. And I very much enjoy a glass of cava, and this is a great option.
1,000 Day Old Gouda with Pinot Noir
Pair 1,000 Day Old Gouda with a Pinot Noir (like this one) for a delicious option. You might consider adding pepper jelly to take it up a notch. This pairing of wine, gouda, and pepper jelly would be nice to bring to a party if you’re a guest at a party this season.
Triple Créme Brie with Pinot Grigio
Serve this triple créme brie at room temperature and pair with raspberry preserves. My go to Pinot Grigio is the tasty Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. It’s a really versatile one and would be a great hostess gift.
Asiago Cheese with Rosemary & Olive Oil paired with Cabernet Sauvignon
I really like this version of asiago with rosemary and olive oil. Serve with grapes and crusty bread plus a glass of cabernet for a delicious treat!
Chèvre with Honey & Rosé
This honey goat cheese is delicious alone or take it up a notch with hot honey drizzled on it. This rosé is a fabulous one for a special occasion and this is a wonderful, affordable option.
