Despite the unseasonably warm winter often experienced in early December in North Carolina, I live in sweaters. I am a huge fan of oversized sweaters and tunic sweaters for both work and weekend wear. I am a big fan of versatile sweaters that can be worn with jeans, leggings, or with skirts, so today, I wanted to share some of the best winter sweaters I live in during the cooler months.

Balloon-Sleeved Sweater
This sweater pictured is one of my favorite wear to work sweaters paired with trousers. However, I also pair it with denim, like these white ones, seen here when I went to check out the Longleaf Hotel. I love a good bubble sleeve tunic and this one comes in several colors and is oversized. Size up and pair it with a button down.
Bouclé Sweater

I cannot get enough of a bouclé sweater! This one from Madewell is a wool-alpaca blend and is so soft and cozy. I tend to run hot, so I stay away from traditional wool sweaters unless it is a bouclé sweater. These pair nicely with denim, leggings, or over a dress or tucked into a skirt.
Cable Knit Sweater
There is nothing more classic and timeless than a quality cable knit sweater. I love this ivory version from Tuckernuck as a closet staple. It is the perfect layering piece regardless of season.
Cashmere Fisherman Turtleneck Sweater
Cashmere sweaters are so luxe, though the prices can scare me away from the splurge. I have been eyeing this Mongolian cashmere fisherman turtleneck sweater from Quince. A friend has a more expensive version from Jenny Kayne and told me she wears the Quince one more often. I recently picked up a faux-fur blanket from Quince and have been incredibly pleased with the quality, so this sweater is definitely on my wishlist now.
Merino Wool & Cotton Sweater
This casual sweater is a great layering piece over a tee for when the temperatures are all out of wack. It comes in three colors and pairs nicely with denim and your favorite pair of sneaks. I have been living in these recently.
Mock Neck Tunic

I snagged this tunic from Nordstrom a few years ago and I live in it during the winter. It is so soft, cozy, and pairs well with faux leather leggings or denim. I especially like it on days I am working from home because it feels cozy yet put together. I found a similar version and color here.
Ottoman Slouchy Tunic
This color tunic for fall and winter and would even pair with white skinnies transitioning into spring. The neckline is really nice, too. I have rented the black version in my nuuly for traveling, especially when we go to NYC for the holidays because it is just so versatile.
Pullover Sweater
I love a classic J.Crew sweater and this sweater pictured is still heavily in my rotation. That said, it has been retired from their offerings, and I absolutely adore this pullover sweater with the attached scarf as a lovely alternative.
Sequin Cashmere Mock Neck Sweater
You didn’t think I was going to share an article about the best winter sweaters and not include something with sequins, did you? Good! I recently added this sweater to my sequins collection and it is the coziest piece! The cashmere is soft and despite the amount of sequins, is surprisingly lightweight. It comes in 4 colors, though I opted for black for more versatility.
Softly Structured Knit Tunic
I picked this Free People sweater up for our trip to New York back a few years ago and it is still my most worn sweater in my closet. It is one of the more functional sweaters that I own. Free People no longer makes this style, so this one is a similar option and this one from Lululemon is a nice option with the softness of the fabric.
