I always enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby, but after attending a race at Churchill Downs a couple years ago, I am hooked on all the festivities of the day. With the Kentucky Derby right around the corner, I am sharing how to get Kentucky Derby ready at University Place in Chapel Hill. It is the perfect one-stop-shop to pick up all your needs for the big race this year on Saturday, May 5.
Be Pure Beauty
There is no better way to get party ready than stopping at Be Pure Beauty for new makeup and skin care products. I love April’s mission of providing clean beauty options, so stock up on sunscreen if your party is outdoors, a new spring lip color, and beard oil for the man in your life.
Carolina Corner
Carolina Corner is not only a great spot for any UNC apparel, but they also have the prettiest mint julep cups. And y’all know that no Kentucky Derby party is complete without mint julep cups.
Night Gallery/Branching Out
I could spend all day in this shop! There are so many beautiful and unique pieces throughout the shop. To get ready for the run for the roses, Night Gallery/Branching Out has the cutest Derby hats that would also double as great hats for poolside later.
Peacock Alley Gifts
This cute shop has the best selection of gift items, but also such cute apparel for a Derby gathering. There are dresses, tops, and sandals to choose from to have the perfect outfit in time for the Derby.
Southern Season
Southern Season is such a Southern staple and offers to perfect party accessories. Everything from cocktail accessories to a deep selection of wine (rosé please!) to Southern snacks to Scout bags (which make the best coolers) are covered in Southern Season. Even if you are not hosting a party, a hostess gift would be great from Southern Season.
Don’t forget to stop in Burlington Shoes for a great pair of new shoes for your celebration. Looking for more hat options? Check out the selection at Dina Porter, while you’re there, be sure to stop at bartaco! I am a huge fan of their menu, and their secret taco is always one of my favorite features. Bonus, their patio is perfect for spring and their watermelon margarita is delicious!
