It’s no secret that I’m proud of Raleigh and all that the city has to offer. Â Raleigh has changed so much since I moved here 9 years ago, and about two years ago, I wrote a guide for 36 Hours in Raleigh (original here). Â I thought it was time to update my list with a few new favorites.
Grab a cup of coffee from Jubala Coffee on Hillsborough St after arriving in Raleigh.
Head down to Paintbase Nails on Tucker Street for a fresh manicure in the prettiest salon before a night out.
Stop and pick up a new outfit from The Flourish Market and shop with a purpose!
Check out Deco for eclectic gifts and Raleigh themed items.
Grab a macaroon from lucettegrace. Â I would take one of each, but ask for a recommendation.
Snag a happy hour drink from The Haymaker. Â I love the interiors of this space and they have a great rose.
Head to dinner at Remedy Diner for the best selection of entrees with vegan and vegetarian options. Â Their buffalo chicken sandwich is a great vegan option!
Have a post-dinner drink at Foundation, a favorite speakeasy in downtown Raleigh.
Be sure to stay at the Sheraton in downtown Raleigh. Â It’s the perfect spot for walking to these spots or catching a cheap Lyft ride (use code MEGHAN518123 for $5 off your first ride).

The next morning, grab breakfast at The Mecca Restaurant. Â Get the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.
Head to the North Carolina Museum of History for the Civil Rights Exhibit which is a photography exhibit. Â The permanent exhibit of the history of North Carolina is a personal favorite of mine as well.
Then, stop at the North Carolina Musem of Natural Sciences. Â The permanent exhibit in the Nature Exploration Center is great for information on the various landscapes that North Carolina boasts.
Take a break for lunch at the Station on Person Street. Â Order the pimiento cheese dip, black bean burger and homemade chips.
After lunch, head over for a cocktail at William & Co. Â If you have room, get a tamale, too! Â They are delicious!
Stroll through Historic Oakwood and check out my favorite neighborhood in Raleigh.
Take a tour of Mordecai House, explore Mordecai Park, and take a trolley tour of downtown Raleigh.
For dinner, head down to Poole’s Diner for dinner. Â It’s my Raleigh MUST. Â If there is a wait, head down to Port of Raleigh and take a look at her gorgeous shop. Â Or you can grab a drink from Poole’s bar and enjoy the energy and atmosphere of my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. Â Order: pimiento cheese for an appetizer, watermelon & feta salad, roasted chicken, and the royale. Â If it’s on the menu, I’d also recommend the soft shell crab. Â However, the 4 above make up our quintessential order.
Stop at Chuck’s for a milkshake. Â My personal favorite is the chocolate peanut butter.
Head to Fox Liquor Bar for cocktails and have the bartenders make you one based off of your preference. Â You won’t be disappointed.
Finish your night on the Raleigh Times rooftop bar and enjoy the view of downtown Raleigh.
Before heading out, stroll around the North Carolina State Capitol. Â Grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich from the Morning Times and enjoy at one of the benches in downtown.

xx,
What a cool city! Honestly, I’ve never put any of the Carolinas on my travel wish list, but after seeing these pics I think I need to! Seems like there are a lot of travel-worthy cities over in that part of the country!!
I cannot wait to go to Raleigh and visit! It’s just finding the time to do so. Looks like it is such a great city!
This is a perfect guide and makes me so homesick for Raleigh!
