Happy New Year! Last year, I made a decision to focus my goals more on what consistently makes me happy and I had a really fun time doing that. For years, my annual goals included saying no more often and prioritizing a slower pace, and I was always a bit frustrated that I didn’t make as much progress with those as I wanted. Maybe because of the pandemic forcing a slower pace at times or because I’m getting older and make a conscious effort to maintain my boundaries, I have been finding a lot more inner peace and joy. WIth that in mind, my goals for 2022 are not all the different from my goals from 2021. I want to continue being adaptive and flexible while focusing on having a good time and making the best of situations. Keep reading for my personal goals for 2022.
Top 5 Personal Goals for 2022
2021 Personal Goals
Last year’s goals were really quite fun! I summarized them on Instagram as this line up:Â more walks with David, Winston, & Giz, more reading historical fiction and thrillers, more lazy weekends, more exploring NC through road trips, more cheese tots, more hot yoga, more French 75s, more gratitude, more sunset porch swings with the boys, and more sparkles. When I wrote last year’s post, I was dabbling with the idea of the North Carolina 100 county tour, so it was really this line of thinking that inspired me with that bigger goal.
2022 Personal Goals
This year, there are some similarities to last year’s goals including spending more quality time with the Grant boys, continuing my NC County Tour, more cheese tots (always), more slow weekends, more champagne, and more sequins. To add to those goals and to highlight some additional opportunities for myself, here are my top 5 personal goals.
Less fear of failure
Less explaining myself
More celebrating the small things with nice things
More daily movement
More trying new things (whether it’s a new book genre, a new restaurant, etc.)
I look forward to continuing my journey of allyship and will continue to advocate for a more perfect union. My biggest goals for this space include spending more time highlighting small, female, minority-owned, and NC based businesses. I have a few things up my sleeve for this and I look forward to sharing with you over the next 12 months.
I’d love to hear a personal goal you may have set for yourself in the comment below!
And as always, thank you for being here! This space brings me such immense joy each year and I am grateful to have you here supporting my work. Happy 2022!
