Y’all, this past weekend was a complete win. It was a whirlwind of exploring new local gems and I am so excited to share them with you today. Saturday, I spent the day celebrating my buddy KP for her 40th birthday. She is literally the best friend, and I could write an entire post about how much I adore her. Her actual birthday was over our spring break and she spent it in Mexico, so we had a belated celebration. I planned a surprise with our friend LN who just moved back from Chicago and our friend E came by for drinks and appetizers. It was a glorious day. Check out our agenda:
We spent the morning at Hux Family Farm doing yoga with goats. KP has been dying to get a goat, and we saw yoga with goats on Facebook a while back. I did a little research, and found this sweet little venue in KP’s town of Durham. We had the best time, but if I’m being honest, I didn’t do too much yoga. I did a lot of loving on these goats and soaking in the gorgeous weather and time with friends.
Hux Family Farm offers yoga with goats, meditation, and therapy with goats. Check out their website for a calendar of events. I received a lot of messages on Instagram when I was posting on Instastories, and yes, it’s really one of my favorite things I’ve ever done!
After our afternoon, we went back and got ready for a wine tasting at Doyle’s Vineyard. Doyle’s Vineyard is the exclusive tasting room of RagApple Lassie Vineyard in Boonville, NC. These wines are not like typical NC wines and are not overly sweet. We really enjoyed our wine tasting and chatting with Kristin about urban planning in Durham, wine, and just her experience in North Carolina. It’s a great tasting room, and an easy location from all areas of the Triangle.
Artichoke Salad
Gnocchi
Rigatoni
Squid ink tonnarelli
We finished the evening with a drink on the patio at Bull McCabe’s Irish Pub across the street from Mothers & Sons.
And Sunday, Angela, her husband Robert, DG, and me headed to Fearrington House Inn for a quick staycation. It was a great break from the hustle and bustle we’ve all been experiencing recently! Stay tuned for upcoming blog posts regarding our staycation!
I hope you had a great weekend! I can’t believe that it’s already Wednesday! How do we make sure time slows down, y’all?
P.S. Congratulations to Jenn for her new addition! She’s beautiful!
Thank you to Hux Family Farm, Doyle’s Vineyards, & Fearrington House Inn for collaborating with me. And thank you for supporting the businesses who support I’m Fixin’ To. As always, all opinions are my own.
