Weekending: The Abandoned Building Edition

Y’all this was one of those weekends that I didn’t want to come to an end. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, productivity, and fun, and Sunday even had some gorgeous snow flurries, that were gone by 1:00PM.

I started on Thursday with a fun Kentcky Derby inspired photo shoot for an upcoming magazine. I can’t wait to share more with you in the future, but check out the pig that I found at the venue. That was perhaps my favorite part (just kidding, the entire day was a dream).

Friday night, DG and I had dinner at Brixx Pizza in Bradford Shops in Cary. Brixx has always been a favorite of mine for their scratch-made dough and fresh ingredients. I love their chicken florentine pizza, and DG tried the Caribbean Jerk & 4×4. I didn’t realize you could make your pizzas half and half until Friday. I wish I lived or worked closer to this Brixx because they offer a lunch special of a smaller pizza plus a half salad that’s delivered in 10 minutes. Saturday, I met my friend Jo in Rocky Mount at the mills to help her shoot her new bags for her relaunch in April. She had this place in mind, but had never explored it. If you saw my Instastories, you know we hit photo shoot gold on the inside. We slipped through and found the best exposed brick and reclaimed wood in this old mill. Friends for life are made over the love of old buildings.

After our photoshoot, we headed over for a brew at Koi Pond Brewing in the Rocky Mount mills. Durham (or Triangle) people, the same folks who own the American Tobacco Campus have bought the Rocky Mount Mills and there are currently two breweries with at least one more and a restaurant coming. The Welcome Brew (rosemary & pineapple) is amazing. And to my surprise, Cousins Maine Lobster truck drove in from Raleigh for the day.

And I’ve been keeping a little secret. For the past year, I’ve been trying to narrow down my calling. I applied and was accepted to grad school at my alma mater in December. However, in typical Meghan fashion, I was a bit indecisive at first. However, I’m starting my program in June!
