The entryway is one of the most important spaces in your home to set the tone and create a cohesive point for our interior style. It is one of the best places to showcase your personality and creativity as well as make a great first impression on your guests. So today, I am sharing creative tips on how to decorate a foyer table that showcases your personal style while staying functional and practical at the same time. Keep scrolling for 6 tips on decorating a foyer table with some style inspiration included as well!
How To Decorate A Foyer Table
A foyer table can be a tricky place to decorate in the home, though it is a convenient catch-all space when you enter your home. Finding the right piece of furniture is important for incorporating a functional, yet stylish space in your home. Since it is the first thing your guests see when entering your home, it is important to consider storage options that can be discreet and also decorative items to show off your personal style. In addition to function, having a gallery wall or a statement wallpaper can be a nice addition to highlight the space with a cohesive color palette as well.
I like to take an empty space and create a vision board to help plan out our project, like the one that I made last year for our foyer. We have two entryway tables in our home, one right by the front door and one in the center of the space.

6 Tips on Decorating A Foyer Table
Add a Table Lamp (or Two)
I opted for wall sconces here instead of a table lamp, though we chose to add a table lamp (similar here) to the entryway table right by our front door. I like it when lighting has dimming options, so for the table lamp we do have, we have a Hue lightbulb with a timer for mornings and evenings. Instead of hardwiring the wall sconces, we use these battery-operated bulbs with a remote control that has a timer and dimmer option.
Put Out Candles for a Signature Scent & to Enhance Lighting
Scented candles are such a delightful way to set a mood and double as decorative items, too. My go-to candle brand is Hotel Lobby Candle and my favorite in this area is New York City. It burns well and pairs nicely with whatever fragrances I have going in my Pura. I also think candles make for nice vibes, so I have been on a big taper candle kick this year. I get my taper candles locally from French Bleue in Apex and the glass candlestick holders from there as well.
Use a Stack of Books as Decor
One of the most versatile interior decorations is a stack of books. I started a coffee table book collection several years ago and that collection keeps growing. Thrift stores are a great, affordable option for coffee table books. I love swapping out books for the season or changing up colors in vignettes around the house. It is also helpful in changing up heights for decor as needed.
I have a collection of women’s empowerment books, North Carolina coffee table books, and a mixed bag of my favorites here.
Style Fresh Flowers on your Entryway Table
Having fresh flowers around the house is an instant mood booster for me. I make a weekly flower run to Flowers on Broad Street in downtown Fuquay-Varina. The biggest arrangement goes in the center of our table in the foyer. If fresh flowers are not an option, these faux tulips and these faux hydrangeas are nice options!
Add a Personal Touch
There are a few items that I will just always pick up from a thrift store. Those include glass bowls, anything with hobnail, and doillies. For us, we chose to incorporate a remembrance of Gizmo on our foyer table since he always enjoyed helping us on the front porch. We also added our favorite gold and black wallpaper, which has become a staple in our home. And we added a bright, funky rug to keep the space fun. We also have some picture frames for the start of a gallery wall. We find this adds a touch of uniqueness to our decor.
Create Unique Storage Opportunities to Maximize Space
While we have a rather large foyer, we still wanted to maximize storage space. I opted for woven baskets (similar here) for the entryway table to store some blankets and items for the front porch for easy access. The set of ottomans under the acrylic table are also storage ottomans and make a nice option for maximizing space. I also like larger baskets for storage options (this one is great) because they are functional and aesthetically pleasing.
