IWhen I consider favorite cities in North Carolina, Greensboro consistently ranks as one of the top on my list. There are delicious restaurants, outdoor activities, excellent art and history, among interesting shops and architecture. If you’re staying overnight, consider a stay at the O.Henry Hotel, near the Friendly Shopping Center. It’s also a great spot to enjoy jazz music in the social lounge, local artwork, and afternoon tea. Check out my experience here.
A Night at the O.Henry Hotel In Greensboro, NC
This boutique hotel was named after the original O.Henry Hotel. Which was the first modern hotel in Greensboro, built in 1919.  The O.Henry is named after William Sydney Porter, whose pen name was O. Henry, the author of “The Gift of the Magi,” “The Last Leaf,” “Of Cabbages and Kings,” and “The Ransom of Red Chief.” Read more about the name sake of the original hotel here. Though the original hotel was razed in 1979. This beautiful Craftsman-style hotel used classic North Carolina red brick, pine, and cast granite with a meticulous attention to detail. It’s a gorgeous space with a community-feel. The O.Henry is also employee-owned. Making it one of the few hotels and restaurants in the US like this. See their sister hotel, Proximity Hotel here and here.
Accommodations – O.Henry Hotel
I stayed in a king room, furnished with original art, and beautiful natural lighting. There is a separate sitting area and a separate bath with double vanities and a dressing room. Along with beautiful natural lighting, a large soaking tub, AVEDA bath products, high speed WIFI, and a soaking tub. I also loved the beautiful artwork on the ceiling. It was such a beautiful way to wake up in the morning.

Amenities – O.Henry Hotel
Included in the stay is a complimentary Southern-style breakfast buffet, in-room dining from Green Valley Grill, pool, fitness center, and available spa services. Then there are jazz nights in the social lounge on Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 and on select Saturday evenings. Lastly, there’s transportation to the airport and to Print Works Bistro at the sister property, Proximity Hotel, the beautiful Cloister Garden, and afternoon tea. Green Valley Grill offers a delicious Mediterranean menu, but for this stay, I opted for in-room dining and got the Darn Good Burger with Cheese.
The O.Henry Hotel is a beautiful spot in Greensboro and offers such a wide variety of things to do without having to leave the hotel. On our first trip, David and I spent a Saturday evening listening to jazz in the social lounge and quite enjoyed that experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained and I was able to get work done in the Cloister Garden while enjoying the outdoors.
