One of the standing traditions in our house is a weekly date night. It gives us a chance to unwind and catch up after busy weeks where we sometimes don’t get to see each other often. An added bonus is it gives me something to look forward to throughout the week, too! With fall finally here, I’ve rounded up 7 cozy and romantic date nights to try this season! Keep scrolling to see some of our favorite fall date night ideas!
7 Cozy and Romantic Fall Date Night Ideas to Try
Rent a Cabin in the Mountains
Fall is a perfect time to visit the mountains for leaf season. Two of our favorite places to do this are Blowing Rock and Asheville. There are great Air BnB options in the NC mountains and makes for the perfect weekend escape to enjoy the colors and each other’s company. While these aren’t cabins, I daydream about a weekend getaway to Woodstock Inn and Resort in Vermont, High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, and Portland Harbor Hotel in Maine.
Visit a Local Farmer’s Market
Fall farmer’s markets are some of the best! They are decorated so cute and often include seasonal treats like homemade apple cider or apple cider donuts. Road side stands are equally as fun, especially if they have fresh boiled peanuts available. If you’re in North Carolina, check out the Visit NC Farms app for local farmer’s markets and produce stands to find. It’s a great resource to use on a day trip, too! P.S. you can find the itineraries I wrote for the app here.
Enjoy a Night by the Fire Pit with a Favorite Playlist
There are few things David and I look forward to more than when nights get cool enough to sit out back and enjoy our fire pit. We turn on a favorite playlist (usually Devin Dawson) and just relax. It’s one of the date nights I look forward to the most during the season. And, a bonus is using leftover Halloween candy to make s’mores. A Reese’s peanut butter cup with a graham cracker and blackened marshmallow is really the best way to go here.
Go Antiquing!
Antiquing is a fun way to spend time exploring. There are a few antique stores in the area that we enjoy (K n B Marketplace in Fuquay, Father & Sons in Raleigh) and estate sales are another interesting option. When the NC State Fair is over, the state fairgrounds transition back to the weekend flea market, which is another one of our favorite day date spots followed by lunch after.
Take a Day Trip & Enjoy the Scenery
If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’m a big fan of a day trip. This is a wonderful time of year to take a day trip because you get to enjoy the fall colors on the drive. It’s also a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the cooler temperatures. It’s still relatively warm here during the day, so you might consider going out on a kayaking adventure. Or, take a drive to one of the NC beaches. They’re beautiful and way less crowded during this time of year.
Try a New Savory Recipe
While it doesn’t happen often, one of my favorite past times is trying a new recipe and having David help me in the kitchen. We did much more of this during the stay-at-home order during quarantine in 2020, and one of my favorite recipes we made was this parpadelle Bolognese!
Cheer on your Local Sports Team
David and I are both sports fanatics so it’s a great time to enjoy a football or soccer game. Even if you’re not a big sports fan, it’s a fun way to support your local team and try some of the stadium food and drinks. Carolina Courage games are quite exciting and a wonderful way to support women’s sports if you’re in the Triangle.
