It’s time for the September edition of coffee talk where I share thoughts, feelings, favorite links, and purchases. Â I recently created a survey for my readers to see what you are interested in seeing on I’m Fixin’ To for the remainder of 2017 and I’d love to have your response. Â Now let’s get into our coffee talk and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end of the post!
A couple of weeks ago, Lauren and I tried out HEAT Studios in downtown Raleigh. Â I had never tried a HIIT workout, but I get all the hype. Â It was a great workout and I’ll definitely be taking DG back for another round of working out.
Last week, I attended Feed the Dialogue NC, which was a lovely evening of locally sourced produce and meeting the farmers behind the products. Â The event was hosted at 18 Seaboard and the 5 course meal was delicious. Â I have to say that my favorites were the beef carpaccio and the sweet potato pie.
I have been incorporating more green products into my cleaning routine. Â The grout in our shower was in need of a deep clean, so I’ll be sharing how I cleaned out grout without using harsh chemicals.
Remember how I binge watched Nashville and was in search of a new show? Â My new obsession is Friday Night Lights. Â Hellooooooo Tim Riggins. Â But now I’ve finished that, so I’m in need of another show to binge watch.
I realized I hadn’t been super clear about how this school year started out for me. Â I am no longer in a school building, but am working in central office in the district I work for and am supporting multiple schools. Â I will have been in the position for a month next week, but I have really enjoyed learning new strategies and more information about the ins and outs of public education.
This weekend, DG and I are celebrating his 33 birthday. Â I can’t wait to share what we’re doing to celebrate, so be sure to follow along on Instagram!
This semester is my first full semester of grad school, and I am taking two classes that I find incredibly interesting. Â I love learning, but it has been a huge adjustment to remember I can’t do it all, and that I have to prioritize my time. Â I’ll be honest, I’ve loved being home more. Â I’m looking for a chair to go in my office that I can curl in when I have to read my text book. Â Any recommendations?
I’ve been on a miminalist kick ever since we moved. Â I am focused on quality over quantity, and have been purging my closet and drawers after each month if I am not wearing something. Â That has been a huge sense of relief.
If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing place for manicure and pedicure, try out the new Paintbase location in Morrisville. Â Use code FIXIN15 for 15% off your service.
Finally, I have an exciting giveaway for y’all. Â You know I love all things Raleigh, and my friends at Kannon’s Clothing have been a staple to the community for 100 years. Â My mama and her girlfriends have all enjoyed buying their mother-of-the-bride or mother-of-the-groom dresses from Kannon’s. Â My mama still talks about the service that she received when finding her perfect dress. Â I popped in to Kannon’s Women’s Clothing a few weeks ago to pick up something to wear when visiting The Graylyn Estate and I had the best time. Â The ladies really know how to make you feel pampered and give the best styling advice. Â I love this off-the-shoulder (c/o) look for transitioning to fall, but it will be so fun to style for the holidays with a gold skirt, too!
I’m giving away a $50 gift card to Kannon’s Clothing to one of my readers.  The gift card is for in store purchases, and you will have the best time shopping with the ladies.  To enter, comment below on what fall fashion trend you’re looking forward to and/or if you’ve ever shopped at Kannon’s Clothing.  Winner must be 18 years or older and be able to shop in store at Kannon’s Clothing.  Giveaway ends on September 22nd at 12:00AM.

My mom also found her MOB dress at Kannon’s. I started shopping there in the 80s when they were in Wendell and am so glad I can get to them more often now that they are at Cameron Village! They have always been so nice and they give you honest opinions and guide you to something you will love reaching for in your closet time and again!
I’m looking for to warm sweaters, lined leggings (my new obsession), and cute knee boots! I’ve never been to Kannon’s but would absolutely love to go!
Would love to attend a Feed the Dialouge dinner, do they have them often?
