Perfect October Date Night Ideas in the Triangle
Enjoy an Afternoon in Fearrington Village

Fearrington Village is one of my favorite places for a fall date. Start your afternoon with coffee at The Belted Goat, then stroll through the boutiques or book a couple’s treatment at the Fearrington Spa. End the evening with dinner and wine at the Fearrington House Restaurant for a truly special night. If you really want to make it romantic, stay overnight at the inn and enjoy a leisurely breakfast overlooking the pastures the next morning.

Visit a Local Winery for a Fall Tasting

October is harvest season, making it a wonderful time to explore one of the Triangle’s local wineries. Head to Zinchouse Winery and Brewery in Durham for a leisurely afternoon where you can bring your furry friends. There are food trucks, wine, beer, Bourbon, and more. It is the perfect way to slow down and savor the season together.
Celebrate NC Agriculture at the North Carolina State Fair

The North Carolina State Fair is a fall tradition for us! David and I always make a list of our must-try foods {a S’mores from La Farm, a shrimp po’boy, and fries are always a stop) before wandering through the exhibits. We love checking out the flowers and garden center, the Village of Yesteryear, and the livestock barns. Be sure to stop by the NC Public House, where you can sample NC craft beer, cider, wine, and soda—it is the perfect way to end your date at the fair.
Cozy Up Around a Fire Pit

As the evenings cool down, grab a blanket and cozy up by a fire pit at one of the Triangle’s outdoor spots. Some of our favorites include The Willard Rooftop Lounge in downtown Raleigh and Conniption Bar and Lounge in Durham. Order a cocktail or local beer, snack on small bites, and enjoy the warm glow of the fire—it is low-key, intimate, and ideal for a crisp October night. Visit a Pumpkin Patch or Corn Maze

If you are looking for something playful and festive, head to one of the Triangle’s local farms. Phillips Farms in Cary and Page Farms in Raleigh both offer pumpkin picking, hayrides, and corn mazes throughout October. Go in the late afternoon for golden-hour photos, then grab apple cider donuts or kettle corn to take home. It is a fun way to embrace the season (and maybe pick the perfect pumpkin for your front porch).
Cheer on the Carolina Courage

If you are both sports fans, cheering on the Carolina Courage in Cary makes for an exciting date night. Grab dinner downtown before the game, then head to WakeMed Soccer Park to catch the action. The atmosphere is electric, and there is nothing quite like watching a match under the fall sky.
Catch a College Football Game

Few things say fall in North Carolina like college football. Between Duke University, NC State, and UNC-Chapel Hill, there is always a game worth catching. If you go to a Carolina game, start the night with dinner and a brew at Carolina Brewery, then heading over to Kenan Stadium. The energy, the fans, and the cool October air make it a can’t-miss fall tradition.
Enjoy a Scenic Fall Picnic

For a laid-back and budget-friendly date, pack a picnic and head outdoors to soak up the fall foliage. Dorothea Dix Park, Sarah P. Duke Gardens, and William B. Umstead State Park are all beautiful this time of year. Bring along your favorite local wine, cheese, and sandwiches for a cozy, intimate afternoon surrounded by nature.
Take a Seasonal Cooking Class Together

Cooking together is always a fun (and delicious) bonding experience. Check out Sur La Table in North Hills or Durham Spirits Company for fall-themed classes like pasta-making, soups, or autumn desserts. You will learn something new, laugh a lot, and enjoy a romantic dinner you made together.
Catch a Local Performance or Outdoor Concert

Looking for something a little different? Plan a night out at DPAC in Durham for a Broadway show, or see who’s performing at Koka Booth Amphitheater or Red Hat Amphitheater for an outdoor concert under the stars. October also brings themed performances and movie nights, making it a great way to mix up your usual date night routine.
