Recent Home Updates for Our New Ranch

Back in June, DG and I purchased our second home a bit out of town on a little land.   Buying our house was a whirlwind but we truly found the house that best fits our lifestyle.  I love coming home to our house, sitting on the front porch in our rocking chairs in the evening, but I also love having projects to do around our house again.  Here are some recent updates to our new ranch.

I posted an update here about these pendant lights we purchased for our kitchen island.

We also had painters come in and paint our foyer, two hall ways, and kitchen, dining room, and living room Sherwin Williams Repose Gray.  This is my favorite neutral color and it has made a huge difference in the lighting in our house already.

And while I was in Chicago for #TBSCon, DG and our friend Frank started working on our mudroom.  They finished it over Labor Day weekend and I am totally smitten with the outcome, but especially this light fixture, as seen in the top photo.

As I mentioned, one of my favorite things about this house is having a new space to design.  With fall around the corner, I am pinning fall decoration ideas for both our mantle but also for our front porch.  I am also on the hunt for pieces to finish styling our foyer.  I’ve also been working on our office, which is a disaster zone right now while we figure out what we’re going to do with that space.  I can’t wait to share the finished product of that room, which is next on our list to tackle, because I think it may end up being my favorite room in house!

P.S. The remenants of Hurricane Harvey came through about a week ago and gave us a pretty substantial storm.  DG & I were lucky in the damage that we sustained, but we are having to get a new roof, new siding, fixes on our front porch, gutters, outside light fixtures, and three new windows.  We are grateful for home owner’s insurance and the fact that we didn’t lose everything in this process, but we do still have some damage that has to be repaired in the coming weeks.  I hope you’ll stay tuned for more home updates in the coming weeks!
