It is often hard for me to believe that I have lived in Raleigh for over 15 years now, though I have had the pleasure of experiencing the impressively fast rate the city has grown in recent years. Raleigh is one of those cities that feels small, though it has a lot to offer, with lots of sights and activities for all kinds of travelers. Whether you are local to the area and looking for a new activity with your partner or in town for a visit, here is a roundup of things to do in Raleigh NC for couples.

4 Things To Do In Raleigh NC For Couples
David and I have maintained a steady date night routine throughout our 14 years together, and while we have some tried and true favorites, we also like to mix it up and try new things in the area as well. Raleigh is a great city to explore together. I have curated some date night in Raleigh NC ideas by neighborhood that is a fun way to plan a night out with places in walking distance of one another. This post will feature a broader range of things to do and experience while in the City of Oaks.
Is Raleigh NC Worth Visiting?
Admittedly, I am biased towards this question, so yes! Absolutely Raleigh NC is worth visiting! There are tons of things to do for couples no matter what their preferences are. That said, I do recommend considering checking out your location for what may be walkable or where you may need to get a ride share, as some places can be a bit spread out.

CAM Raleigh

Raleigh’s Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) is located in the warehouse district, which features really unique exhibits. CAM exhibits living artists and is in a building where trains used to run through. Admission is free unless it is a special event, and their current exhibit is The Power of Community, highlighting local artists. Their next exhibit is focused on showcasing western North Carolina artists who were affected by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Their annual spring gala is Arthouse, and this year is Golden Hour. There are three levels of tickets available, which would be a really unique date night experience. If that is not your scene, stop by CAM Raleigh to explore the collection before heading for dinner and drinks in one of the Warehouse District restaurants.
CAM Raleigh is at 409 W Martin St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
North Carolina Museum of Art

There are great art museums in Raleigh, and I absolutely adore all that there is at the North Carolina Museum of Art. This state-of-the-art museum features the People’s Collection in the East and West buildings, where admission is free. There is a charge for some special events and programs, such as concerts, films, classes, and performances.
In the East Building, you will find the NCMA Café, which is a lovely spot for lunch or weekend brunch. You can also browse the museum gift shop and explore the permanent exhibits. Check out the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park on a pretty day for a picnic or a walk along the trails.
NCMA hosts an annual spring fundraiser, Art in Bloom, which is a fun experience. As summer gets closer, check their events calendar for movies and concerts hosted in the park.
North Carolina Museum of Art is at 2110 Blue Ridge Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Red Hat Amphitheater

Listen to live music at Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh, one of mine and David’s favorite spots to catch a show. The amphitheater is small, so shows feel intimate while still being outside, which is my preferred way of listening to music. They always have a great line up of artists that come, and the location is great for walking to dinner before (or after) the show. Check out the event calendar here.
Red Hat Amphitheater is at 500 S McDowell St, Raleigh, NC 27601.
Goodnights Comedy Club

There are some great comedy clubs in the area, though the original Goodnights Comedy Club makes for a fun date night in Raleigh. Located in Village District, Goodnights Comedy Club brings popular comedians to this intimate theater each week. Goodnights also serves up a wide selection of food and drinks and shows last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Consider grabbing a drink or dinner at one of the local restaurants in Village District before the show. The events. calendar is available here.
Goodnights Comedy Club is at 401 Woodburn Rd, Raleigh, NC 27605.
Other Activities in Raleigh
- Epic Axe at Morgan Street Food Hall: Morgan Street Food Hall has some great spots to grab a meal, and they have an Epic Axe, which is a fun thing to do on a weekend afternoon. Grab something to eat from one of the 20+ vendors, throw some axes, and then grab a drink from Aunty Betty’s Gin & Absinthe Bar.
- Midtown Beach Music Series in North Hills: There is always something going on in Midtown Raleigh, though one of my favorite traditions is the Midtown Beach Music Series from April – June. This signature event is a staple event for the shopping center. You can also check out their pop-up music series for acoustic music throughout North Hills in the summer and fall.
