It has been a couple of years since I have had the opportunity to travel for spring break and I am thrilled to be planning a trip this year. David and I are heading to his home city of Buffalo for a few days and I am thrilled to still be able to use some of my favorite pieces for chillier temps. I am also looking forward to some relief from my allergies, but that’s a different story. Here are 5 of my cold weather essentials that I’m packing for spring break while using this post to help bring some color since it is spring, after all.
5 Cold Weather Spring Break Essentials to Pack
Options for Layering
I’ve pulled out some of my favorite sweaters, like this one and this one, to take with me. But I’ve also packed a flannel to pair with a vest and the oversized scarf I mention below and a jacket (or two)! I also really like layering this Lululemon shirt with my Dudley Stephens pull over. Also, I will always prefer to wear my Spanx faux leather leggings or these Lululemon leggings when traveling with longer sweaters. I am who I am.
An Oversized Scarf
I love an oversized scarf for flying because it doubles as a blanket on the flight. Since the weather feels a bit unpredictable, I always opt for a scarf to be used as a wrap instead of a heavier coat or under if I need to bundle up. A couple of years back, I picked up a Free People scarf that I adore and I haven’t been able to find it since. This is a nice option and I think the color is really pretty. I also really like this Barbour scarf to pair with my Barbour jacket.
A Pair of Lightweight Gloves
These lightweight gloves are waterproof and easy to maneuver in! I picked them up randomly in the fall for some trips and they have quickly become a staple for my cold weather traveling.
Sunscreen!
I’ve made a habit of wearing sunscreen every day in my late twenties and this starter kit has the perfect sizes for travel! It’s just become a part of my daily routine so it’s nice to have my favorite products in a travel size to stay consistent.
Versatile Boots Good for Walking
I don’t tend to take too many pairs of shoes with me when I travel, so I like something versatile. A few years ago when David and I went to NYC for Christmas, I wore a pair of combat boots for the entire trip. I find these to be great because I can add a layer of wool socks if it is cooler or wear with regular socks and they’re just as comfortable.
