At the end of 2021, I took the advice of some of my pals and started an email purge where I unsubscribed from email lists that I no longer read. It was and is an ongoing attempt for me to declutter my spaces to help declutter my brain. With that in mind, I find that there are five newsletters I consistently look forward to receiving in my inbox. These are newsletters that I can curl up with a cup of coffee and read to start my day off or ones that I read on an afternoon break during the workday.
5 Newsletters to Subscribe To in 2022
The Bitter Southerner has a single aim: to uncover the American South in all its truth and complexity — and in the process to break stereotypes about the region and its people by pushing out important, difficult, uncomfortable, irreverent, witty, addictive, and always enjoyable stories that turn myths about the South inside out. Every week.
I look forward to receiving their newsletter each week to discover a new story about someone doing great work in their community. I look forward to their connection to the history of the South while looking forward to continuing to make the South a great place to live for all.
Heather Bien is an Internet friend who I met at blog conference a few years back. I absolutely adore her content on Instagram and her blog, and her newsletter is equally great! I always find interesting articles to read or a new DIY hack for our ongoing updates to the house. Also, her and her husband have this great cottage listed on Air BnB and I have loved following along with the updates in her newsletter as well.
Some of you may know that I was a history major in both undergrad and grad school, so I very much still stay up on historical scholarship in my free time. One of my favorite historians is Heather Cox Richardson and her daily newsletter is great for contextualizing the news. She often writes connecting current events and happenings to those in history. She is a historian at Boston College and is active on Twitter as well. Her daily newsletter hits at night, so I have it to read with my morning coffee. Sign up here.
Jessica Yellin is a former CNN Chief White House Correspondent who now uses Instagram and her newsletter for news updates. I find her Instagram to be great for listening to interviews, plus she has a podcast where she interviews experts. Though, my favorite is her newsletter for daily updates as well. It is clear, to the point, and helpful in understanding the daily happenings. While I don’t know about you, I feel like there is so much going on at once that I need a look at other things that I may have overlooked.
I am such a fan of Grace Atwood! From her book recommendations to her skin care reviews to her cate Tyrion, I love following along on her Instagram and blog. Her newsletter options include a daily one and a weekly round up, and I enjoy receiving both! One of my favorite weekly posts she writes is her weekend reading which is so fun for learning about new creators or products or books.
And here’s a shameless plug to sign up for my newsletter. I send out a weekly newsletter every Friday and a monthly newsletter to start off the new month. On rare occasions, I’ll send out a special edition as well. Sign up here!
