Asheville, North Carolina: Mountain Views & Local Eats
Prefer mountain air over beach breezes? Asheville’s vibrant arts scene and stunning Blue Ridge views make it a wonderful weekend getaway. Spend your mornings hiking or visiting the Biltmore Estate, and your evenings enjoying live music and local eats downtown. Asheville hosts an impressive fireworks show downtown with festivities throughout Pack Square Park.

If you are craving an unforgettable weekend getaway experience, it is hard to beat NYC. Catch the famous Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks over the East River, which light up the Manhattan skyline. Spend your days exploring outdoor markets, Central Park picnics, and rooftop brunches. Bonus: NYC tends to be a little quieter on the holiday weekend as some locals head out of town. David and I love a weekend getaway to NYC where we spend a lot of down town people watching in parks and leisurely dining.
Travel Tip: Look for hotel deals in Midtown or Lower Manhattan or at our favorite, The Library Hotel, and plan an evening on a sunset cruise for incredible views of the Manhattan Skyline.
Richmond, Virginia: Historic Charm & the James River
Richmond, VA is a fantastic summer destination with a rich history that perfectly suits the weekend getaway. Stroll along Monument Avenue, explore the history of the city, and enjoy the city’s vibrant craft brewery scene. If fireworks are your thing, be sure to check out the riverfront fireworks show over the James River, and spend your days tubing on the river or exploring the charming neighborhoods of Carytown and the Fan District.

It is truly one of the best in the state.
