5 Best Leadership Books for Women that’ll Change your Life
Dare to Lead – Brenè Brown
I loved this book because of Brenè’s approach to providing leadership advice. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that it’s better not to pretend to know all the answers, but to ask questions and to play up to people’s strengths. This book gives great advice on having crucial conversations and handling difficult situations together. It’s a must read this year if it’s not already on your list. #1 New York Times Best Seller
Brave, Not Perfect – Reshma Saujani
This is an exceptional read for all women as Reshma highlights all the ways that society teaches girls to be perfect while encouraging boys to take risks. This book is helpful for providing information on the long term effects this has on women, but also how to reprogram our brains so that we can be brave. #1 New York Times Best Seller
Becoming – Â Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama’s memoir is so heartfelt and reflective; I couldn’t put it down. Her story is honest, witty, inspiring, and I appreciate that she shares both public and private triumphs and failures. She leaves you feeling inspired to defy the odds based on her personal story. #1 New York Times Best Seller
The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey – Ken Blanchard
I truly appreciate this book for giving three different perspectives of distributive leadership. The premise behind this book is that when someone comes to the manager with a problem and the manager agrees to handle the concern, the monkey is then on the manager’s back now. One of the best things to do when leading people is to help encourage their leadership through giving them skills to solve problems effectively and this book helps by giving those three different views. It’s a must read!
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a …. – Mark Manson
Several of my friends recommended this book to me and I completely understand why after reading it. While on my journey for self awareness and personal development, I’ve learned that being happy isn’t meaning I’m content all the time, but rather accepting of the circumstances and making the best of that. Mark’s approach is authentic and honest, which is a much-appreciated type of approach in my humble opinion. It’s a great read for honing in on courage, perseverance, and curiosity. #1 New York Times Best Seller
