I’ve always been a fan of outdoor dining spaces, and this year, having warm patios is a must for the rare venture out and about. While I’m definitely missing travel this year and local holiday themed bars, I have enjoyed seeing the creative ways that businesses are planning for the colder months. With all that said, we are living through a global pandemic and it’s important that we maintain social distance, wear masks, and stay home when possible. Here are 5 restaurants with patios in the Triangle to stay warm this winter.

Jolie Restaurant is such a lovely, lively French bistro in downtown Raleigh and Le Rooftop is a true treat. Their outdoor dining spaces have been expanded on the street level with seating on both the side walk and a deck built in nearby parking spaces. All outdoor seats have access to heaters and blankets which are washed after each use. I adore the drinks and dinner menu at Jolie and highly recommend the escargot and the tomato bisque. It’s a truly lovely experience.
Jolie is located at 620 N. Person Street, Raleigh, NC.

I absolutely adore the spaces at The Longleaf Hotel in downtown Raleigh. The spacious and stylish patio has mini fire pits on the property, a great wine list, and delicious snacks. I really appreciate the retro dishwater that they serve their snacks in and I always order the deviled eggs and port wine cheese ball.
The Longleaf Hotel and Lounge is located at 300 N. Dawson St., Raleigh, NC.
The Station is one of my favorite low-key spots in Raleigh. I love their warm patio with fire places, heaters, and heat lamps at their outdoor seating. Their chicken tenders are delicious, their burgers are always a hit, and always get a side of pimento cheese to dip your potato wedges in. It’s served warm and is absolutely delicious!
The Station at Person St. is located 701 N. Person St., Raleigh, NC.
Taverna Agora has one of the most beautiful rooftops in Raleigh and their Greek dip trio is seriously a favorite. It’s warm with a great greenery, market lights, and such a welcoming feel. If you’re out walking about exploring the Christmas decorations from the street, be sure to pop in to warm up, grab a snack, and a drink!
Taverna Agora is located at 326 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC.
Wye Hill has the best views of the Raleigh skyline and serves up some of the best food and drinks in the city. They have lots of heaters and blankets and it has a great space to be able to social distance. The menu at Wye Hill changes often, so some of my favorites are the falafel waffle, farmer’s burger, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits to name a few.
Wye Hill is located at 201 S. Boylan Ave., Raleigh, NC.
I mentioned this in an earlier post this year, and I want to highlight it again as a struggle that David and I are both having during this time. We both love supporting local businesses and places, particularly right now, so we struggle with how to do that while continuing to limit risks and exposure. We feel fortunate to have this as an option and don’t take it lightly, so I wanted to share that as an ongoing internal dilemma that we have during this time.
Disclaimer: We are not experts here. However, following guidance from public health officials and taking proper precautions, we have found a way to occasionally dine out in a way that protects those around us when we do venture out.
