I had the lovely pleasure of welcoming 2020 at the beautiful Baha Mar resort located on New Providence in Nassau. Visiting an island in the Bahamas has been on my travel bucket list for quite a while now and it was the perfect way to warm up and spend time with good friends. After the experience I had, I would highly recommend a trip to Bahamas in the winter, so here are the best things to do in Baha Mar!
Warming Up in the Bahamas: the Best Things to Do at Baha Mar
The trip down to the Baha Mar Resort was a quick one. I flew from RDU to Ft. Lauderdale, which was about an hour and a half flight and then a 30 minute flight to Nassau. I was quite surprised at how quick of a trip it was and was honestly left questioning why David and I haven’t been before.

I was quite impressed with how many options there were at the resort, including three hotel options: Grand Hyatt, Rosewood, and SLS Baha Mar. The largest casino in the Caribbean is located in the center of the Grand Hyatt towers and a variety of pools, access to water sports, and available animal encounters on the property. Despite all the options, the resort was relaxing and had something for everyone! Our favorite pool was the new infinity pool overlooking the water. It was so quiet and peaceful and the perfect way to welcome in a new decade!

The water is beautiful, the grounds are impeccable, and there are so many amenities, like towel huts that include complimentary sunscreen. The restaurants on the property are all delicious options and I especially loved the food at the pool. We spent most of our days at Privilege pool, and the grouper sandwich and avocado fries were my go-to orders.

I very much enjoyed Café Madeline for breakfast. Their avocado toast was a crowd favorite for sure! There are lots of food trucks available down near the pools and the beach for great dining options. For dinner, we ate at Fi’lia (I ordered the Caesar salad and split the margherita pizza), Costa (the shrimp tacos are outstanding), Katsuya (the Rainbow roll and the Katsuya Special roll are great options), Carna (I loved the crisp wedge salad and the crab cakes), and we all snagged a slice (or two) of pizza from Pizza Lab after the fireworks on New Year’s Eve!

The Library Lounge in the Rosewood offers delicious drink options and includes a tea service. Also, be sure to get a fresh piña colada from Daqs near the beach. It’ll be the best one you’ve ever had! I also especially loved Skybar, the only rooftop bar on the island.

It was such a wonderful experience and I feel truly lucky that I was able to visit Baha Mar Resort. It was only my second time out of the country, and it was really perfect. The weather was great, the food was delicious, the service was amazing, and I hope to visit again with David. On the next trip, I definitely want to try the spa at the resort plus paddle board.
