Each year, I always look forward to reflecting on my content from previous years and planning a vision for the year ahead personally, professionally, and on I’m Fixin’ To. It always helps to guide where I’m going based on the most popular posts of the previous year. It helps guide potential pitches I’d like to make, collaborations with brands, and other writers in addition to keeping me grounded so that I don’t venture too much from my personal mission. An ongoing goal of mine to feature the best of North Carolina, and I thoroughly enjoy reflecting back on the travel content that I’ve created throughout the years. David and I used some of our time during quarantine to brainstorm and give our guest bathroom a little face lift. This post has been really popular on Pinterest and I used it to capture my ideas for the bathroom so that I could maintain a focus. I highly recommend a vision board before doing any home update to keep all your ideas in one place.
I had the best time doing the research of finding the best brunch places in Raleigh. These are still some of my very favorite spots in Raleigh and many of them offer outdoor dining options. If you’re looking for other Raleigh restaurants with heated dining options, be sure to check out this post.
Blowing Rock is a really lovely spot to get away in the North Carolina mountains and it proved to be a lovely spot in early fall for a socially distant weekend trip. We especially loved the stay at the Meadowbrook Inn.
I realized just how much I enjoy exploring new places, eating at local restaurants, and spending time catching up with friends over a delicious meal. I compiled a list of all the places I can’t wait to visit after quarantine. I plan on updating this list this year with any changes that may need to be made so that perhaps you’ll find a great spot to try as well!
At the beginning of the quarantine, I took some time to reflect on the positives that we were experiencing in the face of uncertainty. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been going through this for almost a year now, and I am truly looking forward to our vaccines so that we might be able to experience a bit more freely again.
This was another post that was a lot of fun to research as my resident pizza expert helped weigh in on the best pizza places in Raleigh. David and I became pros at getting pizzas to go and having picnics around Raleigh and it was honestly one of our favorite date night traditions in 2020.
One of my favorite hidden gems in North Carolina is the Yadkin Valley Wine Trail and I was so thrilled to make a return trip with my friends, Hillary and Laura. If you are looking for a fun trip that feels like its further away than it actually is–I can’t recommend this trip enough! It’s gorgeous, the wine is delicious, and there are great food options in the area.
When I began brainstorming post ideas last year, a friend reached out and suggested the topic. I had a great time doing research on what food was from North Carolina, the South in general, and foods that I thought were southern that actually aren’t. Check out the second part to this post here.
I wrote up a list of 10 of our favorite spots in North Carolina that would be great for socially distancing trips in 2021. You may recognize some as places we visited ourselves in 2020.
