The Fearrington House Restaurant dining room has that quiet, sunlit English-country-house feel — soft florals, antique furniture, and big windows looking out over the grounds. It is the kind of space that makes you want to actually put your phone away and talk to whoever you brought with you. Or to enjoy the solitude with a good book if you are enjoying afternoon tea solo.

This is a great pick for a birthday, a girls’ trip, a mother-daughter afternoon, or honestly just a treat-yourself kind of day when you want something a little more special than a regular lunch out. After tea, stroll the English gardens on the property — they are beautiful any time of year, but especially in the spring when everything is in bloom. I also always make time for the herb garden, which never fails to give me ideas for my own raised beds at home.
Beyond the restaurant, Fearrington Village itself is worth wandering — small shops, a bookstore, and the famous black-and-white belted Galloway cows grazing in the pasture, which make for a fun photo stop before or after tea.
