I’m not often one to be excited about Valentine’s Day. In my opinion, places are often overcrowded, overpriced, and honestly, a single day once a year to celebrate love and/or friendship goes against my mantra of celebrating the little things. However, I know that is my own opinion and that there are plenty of folks who enjoy celebrating their relationships on February 14! I have previously shared other date night ideas here and here, and today I’m back to share 10 low key Valentine’s Day date night ideas.
10 Low Key Valentine’s Day Date Night Ideas
Pizza Take Out: David is a pizza connoisseur and his go-to spot is Oakwood Pizza Box in downtown Raleigh. They offer a great take-out special with a 6-pack and a pie which is perfect for a low-key date night.
Cook Supper Together: While this is not my strong suit in life, I do enjoy a good night in helping David make dinner. Sometimes that looks like me helping with the sides or it could just mean I am cleaning as he finishes with dishes.
Binge Watch your Favorite Shows: We’ve been loving Schitt’s Creek!
Go for a Walk with the Fam: One of our favorite date night options is to take the boys for a walk around a local lake or park before grabbing our take-out. The boys very much enjoy a good car ride so this is always one of our favorites.
Grab a drink or dessert. If you still like to go out but want to avoid a huge crowd, grab drinks or dessert from a favorite spot. David and I are fans of grabbing a drink at Brewery Bhavana or Will & Co. or dessert from Raleigh Rolls prior to heading back home. This is always a good idea for killing time while waiting for take out.
Host your own DIY Wine Tasting: I loved hosting my girlfriends for a DIY wine tasting featuring North Carolina wines and would recommend this for a Galentine’s night or a date night. See more of that experience here.
Front Porch Sitting: Whether you have your own front porch, or prefer to go out to somewhere like Morgan Street Food Hall, Transfer Co. Food Hall, or Carolina Inn, a front porch Valentine’s Date night is always a fun idea. Grab a cup of tea, a cocktail, or dessert and enjoy a sunset.
Build a bonfire: It’s been unseasonably warm here in North Carolina, but the evenings are still cool, so a bonfire is one of our favorite ways to spend time together. If it is cold, build a fire indoors for a cozy setting and spend some time together.
Tea & Macarons: I’ve mentioned before that I don’t have a big sweet tooth, but I do enjoy a macaron. Grabbing macarons and tea from lucettegrace would be an amazing treat. See more of my favorite coffee shops in Raleigh here.
